Re: What's the worst kit you've had to play on?

My band played a few shows in our region with another band and we backlined the whole thing. The other band we were on the road with was super "indie", and had set the whole tour up...needless to say...

Re: Only 1 week to go!! (+announcement)

I just submitted my video! My apologies for submitting so close to the deadline, I had completely forgotten about the competition until tonight at a band practice, so I stayed around late tried to...

Re: Ludwig Classic Maple Options

+1 for Keystone badges.

when it comes to floor tom brackets, I prefer classic over keystone...I know someone with a CM kit with keystone brackets and they wouldn't fit in any of his cases or bags,...

Re: Ludwig Classic Maple VS Gretsch USA Custom (Need Advice)

I own a Ludwig Classic Maple kit, and I recently used a Gretsch USA Custom kit in the studio. I am a huge fan of both kits...it's hard to say which one is necessarily ''better" though. There wasn't a...

Re: WFL snare drum

I have a 1958 WFL snare drum (Barrett Deems model) in White Marine Pearl that I love. Clean it up, slap a Remo Coated Emporer or Ambassador on there and play it up. Those things have a lot of mojo.

Re: Crazy? (looking for an opinion or two...)

I have a vintage keystone Ludwig kit that I was experiencing the same dilemma with. It was so cool, and really fun to play, but I stressed out so much about playing it at gigs or outside of the...

Re: What are your stories of when people found out you are drummer?

When I told one of my co-workers that I was in a band he said, "You tha lead singer??"...when I told him I played the drums he said, "You don't look like no drummer, you ain't got long hair."

Re: Great tune with drums and solo by Dave Weckl

Growing up in the 90s I watched a lot of Dave Weckl videos. Now, it's really strange to see him without that 90s haircut. Also, great solo.

Re: How to make my kick sound less boomy without using muffling?

I have an EMAD on my 22" kick, and I used to have the same problem. I have an Aquarian Modern Vintage reso head on the kick now though and there's a huge difference. The aquarian head has a felt...

Re: 20 vs 22 kick?

Both of my kits have a 22" kick drum, but the church where I play has a 70's Ludwig Standard kit with a 20" bass drum with an EMAD on it and it is my favorite out of any kick drum I've ever played. I...

Re: Ludwig Super Classic from 1964

Re: ID these Ludwigs

Thanks for the info! I was assuming it was probably something that got pieced together over time, but it was listed for $200 so it piqued my interest.

ID these Ludwigs

Another CL kit that has got me curious...the seller doesn't have any info other than sizes (13, 16, 22). The bass drum spurs and tension rods have got me thinking vintage, but I've never seen a...

Re: Looking for something new, need a little advice.

I second both of these...one thing I'll say though from gigging with a vintage Ludwig kit for a year or so is that it's important to make sure the kit has solid hardware, and kick drum spurs can be...

Re: Should I fix up my current kit or get a new kit?

Big thumbs up for the Acrolite. I got mine for $80 on Craigslist and I've seen others for around that before too. It's a really solid, great sounding snare, and the focal point of a drum kit. Studio...

Re: Ludwig Classic Maples or DW (with resale value in mind)

Well this may be something that has been discussed more in-depth elsewhere, but how does one go about building a relationship with a drum maker? My thinking was that it would be a better...

Re: Ludwig Classic Maples or DW (with resale value in mind)

I understand what you're saying. I don't like the idea of buying a drum just to sell it either (I doubt I'd ever be able to sell my WFL's because of sentimental attachment)...but I was trying to...

Ludwig Classic Maples or DW (with resale value in mind)

I'm in an interesting situation. Right now I have a 1958 WFL (Ludwig) drum kit, and I play with a band that is going to start gigging heavily in the spring and summer. I love my vintage kit, but I...
