Re: What is a band to do about a PA?

My old band (in high school) became craigslist masters when it came to equipment..

Re: SNARE TUNING

Re: What is your focus, Chops or Groove

I humbly think that both of them are important. It is so important to groove and stay in context of the music (if you want to get hired...and called back). Yet, if they say "give the drummer some"...

Re: Drum Shields??

They use a drum shield at the church I go to as well. However, it is a fairly big church sanctuary so it works for us. At first they had this huge sheet of padding over the top, so it was literally...

What does do you charge for lessons?

I live in a small town (in the middle of nowhere) in Ohio and lessons run about $12-15 per half hour.

Just curious- what do lessons run in other areas of the world?

Chops vs Groove?

There seems to be this never-ending battle between “Chop” drummers and “Groove” drummers..

Which are you?

Re: Am I aiming too high? I'm a beginner

I was simply saying that if you want to be a professional drummer, then you CAN!

If you want to be a hobby drummer then you CAN!

If you want to be a session drummer then you CAN!

My point...

Re: Any big name drummers ever do something to rub you the RIGHT way?

I sat in a restaurant at NAMM last year and talked to Ronald Bruner Jr. for a few hours. He was the most relaxed and down to earth guy I have met in a while.

Also in 2010 at Drummers for Jesus,...

Re: Am I aiming too high? I'm a beginner

Absolutely not. The first thing that we teach to our students here at the HQ is that you need to have a vision for your music.

If you want to be a professional drummer, then that is the mindset...

Re: small vehicles that can transport drums

I have a Red 2012 Toyota Prius Hybrid. I used to get made fun of by my friends when I first got it, but it gets around 54-58 miles when I am on the highway, and it rarely uses any gas at all when I...

Re: Poll: What is your genre and bass drum size?

We currently use a 22"x18" as the studios main kit. However, growing up as a jazz drummer, I loved the sound of the 20"x18"...

As far as my genre is concerned...like I said, I grew up playing...

I respect your opinion. However, Thomas is a personal friend of mine. That is probably why it seemed a little informal. We will be recording a video interview with him at NAMM this month.
