Re: Vintage Ludwig Interior Paint Job

Thanks everyone for the replies. Does anyone know if the re paint will affect any of the sound? Do I really have to remove the paint oo the bearing edges? The re sale value isn't a concern to me...

Re: Vintage Ludwig Interior Paint Job

Well mine doesn't have the date stamped in either the rack tom or bass which also was a factor that led me to believe that it was painted over. I thought the drum would have some of the paint chipped...

Vintage Ludwig Interior Paint Job

Hey everyone, I was hoping some of you vintage experts can shed some light on this. I recently purchased a 1968 Ludwig Gold Sparkle and looks to be near mint or at least in excellent condition. I...

Daru Jones

This cat can seriously groove. I stumbled upon his vids on youtube. I don't know too much about him, but it would be nice to see a page up here on Drummerworld. You should find a ton of his videos on...

Re: Yamaha Birch Custom Absolute Finish

Well that could be a possibility. But the drum shop sold it as brand new and according to them, had no previous owner. But from what I'm gathering I should just stick to my 18 if I want a matching...

Re: Yamaha Birch Custom Absolute Finish

Exactly what I was thinking Artstar. This isn't some super old aged Birch Custom Absolute. It's fairly new or recent from the looks of it. I'm still puzzled about this finish.

Re: Yamaha Birch Custom Absolute Finish

Which is why I was attracted to it in the first place. I've never seen a natural finish aged in such a beautiful dark color in this finish. I thought they were more dark orange ish.

I just got...

Re: Yamaha Birch Custom Absolute Finish

Well, I guess I won't order a new bass drum then. I'll try to get the bass drum to sound versatile enough for rock, r&b, and hip hop stuff. The sizes are 12x8, 14x14, and 18x14. Has a riser too. I...

Yamaha Birch Custom Absolute Finish

I need help from the Yamaha experts. I recently picked up a beautiful Yamaha Birch Custom Absolute in bebop sizes. The finish I'm not too sure of. It seems to be vintage natural, but it's a...

Re: Trading Fours

I'm concluding that everyone is saying to just keep the hi hat going. I'm assuming it's more a practice and develop the skill thing. Or maybe I should just right down a compilation of four bar licks...

Re: Trading Fours

This is the challenge see. When auditioning I'm going to be asked to trade fours to a tune I'm going to sight read. Meaning it's the first time I'm ever going to hear or see the music. What I'm...

Re: Trading Fours

"Jazz Time" is basically your basic cymbal time, or the jazz ride pattern. It's just a term most of the professors use when talking about jazz. I suppose it's supposed to sound more academic. Not...
