I also echo the suggestion to find a local teacher...get reference from a local drum shop...speak with the teacher about...

I suggest a pre-lesson conversation that includes what is bringing them/motivating them to seek lessons....then capitalizing on that existing stimuli.

While I was growing I had to become used to having my toms at a pretty steep angle so I could reach them comfortably.

When I was done growing I did spend time adjusting to more oblique angles.

The sensitivity settings on most e-kits is so low by default that much of an average drummers playing is lost.

I suggest asking if you can interact with the kit before hand....and look at upping...

I have a limited interest in some forms of music...and therefore have limited exposure to the musicians working in those...
