Hey Crew,

Good to be back again.

LarryAce- thanks for the kudos, and back at ya, brother!
D.E.D.- good to see ya again!
Iwantmemoney- the best advice I can give you (which worked for me) is...

Bragging rights- triple threat!

Hey Crew,

As many of you remember, just 2-3 years (or so) ago I couldn't even sing while playing drums without one or the other suffering horribly. For the last year or more, I've been doing lead...

Re: I left my band and possibly might quit drums

Hey Lutz,

I can't add to anything here that hasn't already been said except for one thing.

No matter what life throws at you, percussion and drumming isn't just in your mind and your body, it's...

Re: Who all can do this tune?

Hey Brew,

Aw Holy cow- don't tell me you might be "Redhead Brewski" from the old days in the Rainbow and the Troubadore in the late 70's and early 80's-- that would give me a heart attack! If...

Re: Took up keyboards

Hey Crew,

Thanks for all the positive comments and support.
Man, this keyboard stuff hasn't been easy, I have to say--it's a brand new horizon that I obviously know very little about, (so far!)...

Re: making faces when playing

What the hell,

Make all the faces you need to- 2 of my bands get absolutely paranoid when I close my eyes (when getting into a groove) because they think I'm "tuning out" the rest of the band, or...

Took up keyboards

Hey Crew,

I dunno about the rest of you, but I came to a point where I had to expand a little- most bands that I'm all do the same- (example) "OK, break at F sharp, then it's G, B-flat, A, and...

Re: My new rock band

Hey LarryAce,

Congrats on the new band! I listened to both MP3's and your mistake on Radar Love was absolutely horrible- I could hear the door slamming over and over as people walked out of the...

Re: Who all can do this tune?

Hey Indian,

Well, none of the song is hard anymore!I I do 32nd notes on the bass pedals just for S&G, and because it helps keep me fast. (for a geezer)

I gotta agree- the cowbell riffs just...

Who all can do this tune?

Hey Crew,

I'm an old geezer (53, as most here already know) and have just recently gotten this song down to the 9's.
It's damn fast (at least for me) and it's taken almost 3 weeks to nail it to...

Re: Playing in multiple bands?

Hey Schism,

Go for it!
I'm currently in 3 (sometimes 4) bands, and one thing that I've noticed over the years is that when other band members know that you're in a multi-band sitch, they somehow...

Re: Me Playing Drums... Check It Out, Please.

Hey Last,

Well, I guess I'm the 1st to reply....

Not bad at all-- I'm not into that particular type of music, BUT- nice, fast riffs, pretty hard-ass precision, but one of your cymbals (take...

Re: Rogers Swivo-matic parts--who needs what?

Hey John,

Thanks, brother!
Yeah, they sound almost too good to believe. The power, the resonance, the tones, the internal mufflers, ....

Damn, now I probably can't bring myself to sell this...

Re: Rogers Swivo-matic parts--who needs what?

Hey crew,

(bump!) I forgot to add pics, so here's some pics of the kit (almost done, except for repainting the bass drum hoops, and machining a Swivo mount for the right rack tom) and a pic of...

Rogers Swivo-matic parts--who needs what?

Hey crew,

I hooked up yesterday with a super cool dude that I bought a BUNCH of Swivo parts from--enough to complete my Powertone kit, and a few more for "spares".

Lemme know who needs what- I...

Re: Returning to drums -when is too old??

My answer-

When you're dead- that's when you're too old, and not one second earlier!

My dad is 93, gave up "gigging drumming" when a few health/age problems arose a few months back. Now he's...

HOLY COW- is my dad the world's oldest drummer?

Hey Crew,

I was bored and surfing around online, and decided to look up "Oldest Drummer", "Oldest Drummer in the USA" and "World's Oldest Drummer".

OK, that in mind, all I found was a few...

UN-warping a bass hoop

Hey Crew,

One of the repairs I had to make on that Rogers kit I got cheap was the batter-side wood bass hoop was pretty badly warped and distorted from having missing lug clamps and T-screws over...

Re: NEW quest- Swiv-O-Matic hardware

Hey Crew,

Just an update for ya'll- I found a great semi-retired local machinist, and I'll be buying some mild steel for him to work on getting the dimensions and processes dialed in. From...

Re: cymbal stand repair

Hey $andbox,

Are you talking about the leg clamp, or the bottom tube-into-tube clamp?

If you could post a pic or 2, I can probably help- I've repaired and sold probably 30 or so stands since I...

Re: Do you consider it your role to keep time for the rest of the band?

Hey Crew,

2 words for you- HELL YEAH! We're percussionists, we keep the beat, we (literally) DRIVE our bands! If it weren't for us, bands would all be using drum tracks or drum machines.
...

OK, here I go...

Hey Crew,

I just booked the flight (tonight) to my 35th High School Reunion at the end of this month. It's in Columbus, Ohio.
This will be the very 1st time we've had an actual BAND at the...

Re: NEW quest- Swiv-O-Matic hardware

Hey Eamesuser,

I agree with the stainless- it's a harder metal, but more expensive, and harder to machine, but Chromium is a helluva nice, hard, resiliant metal. I think that's what I'm gonna go...
