Re: Graeme Edge

Bringing this topic back....

Been soaking myself in some of the Moodies stuff on Youtube, one video I keep watching over and over is their performance of "Nights In White Satin" at the 1970 Isle...

Re: John Bonham

Just wanted to wish Bonzo a belated birthday... he would have been 60 two Saturdays ago. I watched The Song Remains the Same and some of the concerts on the DVD in his honor.

Re: John Bonham

Has anyone listened to the album Coda? If you listen to "Bonzo's Montreux" you can hear his squeaky bass drum pedal clear as day!

Re: John Bonham

A little clarification here... I read somewhere on a website that in addition to the green sparkle kit he used in the 1972 Austrailia tour, there were two other green sparkle drumsets he used, i.e...

Re: Jeff Porcaro

That's actually Fred Tackett. The guy to Mike's left is Les Dudek.

Re: Rhys Clark

Well, found videos of the two other songs from this program, along with Piano Man. The video in the first link I posted was removed. However, this other one has a better picture.

Somewhere Along...

Re: John Bonham

If Bonzo was still alive he'd be 59 years old today. RIP.

Re: Jeff Porcaro

Found this video of him from 1976, he's playing with Boz Scaggs. Hard to believe he's only 22 here.

Re: Jeff Porcaro

In the movie "Urban Cowboy" in a few scenes Boz Scaggs's "Look What You Have Done To Me" plays. After a little searching around I found out Porcaro was the drummer. From what bits I heard of the...

Re: Rhys Clark

Interesting story. It should be known that the other drummer on the "Piano Man" album was a rather famous drummer in the 70's, Ronnie Tutt. Makes me wonder why they scrapped his version of Captain...

Re: Rhys Clark

How did his relationship with Billy Joel come about? There's a video on YouTube of Billy performing Captain Jack on some TV show in 1974 and the drummer is no doubt Rhys Clark. He's got a nice...

Re: Rhys Clark

I did find this site, he played with some Beatle-type band back in the mid-60's, in New Zealand:

Rhys Clark

He played drums on Billy Joel's "Piano Man" album, for only one track, Captain Jack. Plus he played for Hoyt Axton and Freddy Fender later on. IIRC he was Billy Joel's first "touring" drummer as...

Re: John Bonham

Found a better pic of his 1968 rig, and it's indeed a Slingerland.

Re: Mitch Mitchell

What kind of drumset did he play on at Berkeley in May 1970? Was it his Gretsch or his Ludwig one? Two months later at Maui he was playing a Gretsch double-bass kit. Funny seeing him play his...
