Re: Yamaha Drums

I agree. I was hoping for a pro birch line in 2015. And snares! They only have two pro snares in their lineup!

I'm patient. I have a feeling that they will announce when it's ready, and it will be...

I bought a set of Live Customs last July 2014. Amazing kit! So much so that I am switching over everything to Yamaha! Plan this year is to buy an AMH in Vintage Natural. 10-12-14-16-20 and snare.

Re: Live custom vs. Sonor ascent

I've never selected or preferred a wood of a drum set because of its Janka scale number...

I LOVE Sonor drums. Great drums. Unfortunately, the nearest shop that deals with Sonor is Dale's in PA....

Re: Is Tama a Bad Company?

Hm...

In response to the question, my answer would be no more or less than any other company, drum or no...

There's been a stigma with Tama since the 80's, more or less. 80% of their artist...

Re: Yamaha original Maple Custom kit - Is it worth it??

One of the best kits I ever had the chance to play was a set of Yamaha Maple Customs. If you like hanging toms for floor toms, you will not be disappointed with an MC kit. Many of the kits being sold...

Re: DW rack-tom mount

yeah it's set up backwards right now. switch it so you can use the aux clamp for a splash.

DW will put a mount on the bass drum if asked, but typically they don't. This type of mount is so easy to...

Re: Help With Yamaha Drum Part

that looks like Power Tom Syndrome. I had a case of it in the 90's with my Tama Granstars. Toms could only be set up over the kick one way.

You may have to angle them a bit. Hopefully not Nicko...

Re: I suck at power ballads.

I too used to poo-poo not just power ballads, but all types of ballads in general. They sounded boring to me.

What I figured out was the amount of emotion you can put into a ballad, especially a...

Re: Yamaha Drums

Ouf, I know. But I have seen some deals. It might be I end up saving for an AMH kit in Vintage Natural, which is kind of what I want to get anyway. Nothing against RC as they are phenomenal drums as...

Re: Yamaha Phoenix (PHX) Drums

This is old, so apologies for the timing. No one complained back in the day that none of the big drum makers had a 100% one wood shell, either all maple or all birch. The all maple shell trend...

Re: Tama Starclassic Snare Help

I remember Tama had Starclassic Performers like this. All maple or all birch, then the maple was dropped (probably cutting into higher end SCM) and was all birch from 2002 - 2008? when they became...

Re: Jazz band or percussion ensemble?

I'd get in the jazz band, and get so good that the percussion ensemble teacher moves the time of the percussion ens. rehearsal so I could do both!

One question to put in your head that I ask myself when I want to take on another project is:

One project I am in plays...

Re: best types of drummers and who are the best

My issue with Gospel drummers, is while all that technique is well and good, they're the first ones to tell you they don't play that way when they're playing with other musicians. In fact, the...
