Re: 99 ludwig 9 plys

Got her all dialed in today. Coated emperors over coated ambassadors for the toms. Got rid of the superkick and put a clear ps3 on it. Holy lord! The boom is definitely in the room.

Re: 99 ludwig 9 plys

Yes this along with a 16x16 floor tom would make it a Bonham sized kit. He also used 12x14 and 12x15 racks throughout the years.

Re: 99 ludwig 9 plys

I had my eye on these since they were bare shells on his shelf. The shells are in perfect condition. Once he finished them I went down, took a look and got them. Think I'm going to have him put some...

Re: 99 ludwig 9 plys

Picked them up today! I'm very excited. Can't wait to rip into a 26 kick drum! Going to play them tomorrow night. He's also building me a 20 inch floor tom in the same build out. I can't wait!

99 ludwig 9 plys

Might be grabbing the beasts. Rewrapped 99' 9 plys in gold sparkle. 14x26, 10x14 and 16x18!

Re: Ludwig shells from 93?

The we're definitely 2 plies that were thicker than the others. Though I thought I counted 6 total. Aren't super classics 4 ply?
And Karl, if I buy them they may get a re wrap in gold sparkle and...

Ludwig shells from 93?

So I ran into a kit from 93. At least I think so as they are all stamped 893 on the inside of the shell. Large Monroe keystone badge. Red lacquer with mach lugs. 22, 10, 12, 13, 14, 16 shells....

Re: Club date or brooklyn?

You know, I've never played a stage custom but lots of people sing it's praises. Really seems like it's the king of the affordable kits. Might have to go try one out.

Re: Club date or brooklyn?

I realize the lack of comparison. I do think the fact that the Brooklyns being wrapped would keep the worry down. Of course you have helped me to let go of the romanticism of a better kit for number...

Club date or brooklyn?

I have a beautiful classic maple in an exotic Birdseye finish that I gig with. I want a second kit for when I feel the venue isn't worth the risk for my baby. I'm thinking of the club date in the...

Re: New Ludwig Classic Maple Badges

They do not. They do however, have a paper tag on the inside of the shell with a serial number and bar code. This now allows for a data base to actually track a drums history. Yay ludwig!

Re: Maple or Birch for hard hitters ?

I would consider myself a hard hitter and have had both a birch and maple kit. I believe my ludwig classic maples are just perfect for the task at hand.

Re: a little help with this super sensitive please?

I think I've read that some drilling is required to put a p85 and a p33 butt plate on but I'm not sure how much drilling is necessary?

Re: a little help with this super sensitive please?

That's what I'm thinking with this one. I figure it wouldn't make me feel so bad about modifying it but maybe it's just a waste of my time?

a little help with this super sensitive please?

So I have a chance to pick up this drum. It is from the 70's. Blue and olive serial number 1771781. It's not a black beauty as seen from the inside. It's aluminum. Just not sure if the black coating...

Re: How do you stabilize a virgin bass drum that jumps up and down?

2 things could be causing your problem:

1) The Persian style rug: I use thin speaker cabinet type carpet on my riser. It allows the kick drum spikes to easily do their job. Sometimes those Persian...

Re: About to order some Bonham sized Ludwigs Classic Maples. Got questions.

Truth is, who knows with ludwig. Love them but they sure are a quirky company. Wouldn't be the first time something that was in the catalog wasn't an available option. Hell, I still can't get a...

Re: Anyone ever wonder if it's all worth it?

It should be fun to play drums. That's why I started. Once I began thinking to much about this and that it took the fun out if it. So i stopped thinking in an overly critical sense. Music isn't about...

Re: Ludwig Classic Maple Options

Just for info's sake, I have 4 atlas mounts on my 24x18 kick drum and it fits in my protection racket 24x18 bag. Tightly, but it fits.

Re: Ludwig Classic Maple Options

I went with the Birdseye finish so, to me, the oval throwback badge just tops the look off. I have the Atlas arch, which I love. I'll echo what others have said as far as the keystone mounts go. Less...

Re: About to order some Bonham sized Ludwigs Classic Maples. Got questions.

I'm not sure where the information regarding the broken glass glitter finishes is coming from? I work at a local shop. The ludwig dealer catalog came in effective as of May 2, 2014. All the glass...
