Re: What if we quantized Bonham?

I really enjoyed the video and found it interesting. The parts dissected where a fairly simple repetitive pattern. Easy to quantize, record, repeat. The real leap in my mind is how does that...

Re: Hoop comparison video from Tama

I got no response from my emails, and decided to order a cast hoop to see how it would work out. It's a different sound. Especially cross sticking and rim shots. Definitely more crack and a little...

Re: Ludwig Black Magic - Head and Tuning Recommendations

Try an Evans Hybrid coated (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HQmFhsEbinU). I love them and have them on all of my metal snares (COB, Bronze, Copper). I don't mind spending a little extra money on a...

Re: Tama Starclassic Birch/Walnut Review

I own B/B and I love them, but I really like sound of the B/W too. Since it's invention was the result of regulation of wood use, I can only assume it was a compromise. I think they sound great, and...

Re: Im torn!! new kit

I'm absolutely amazed by the sound of my B/B Performer kit by Tama. The quality, finish and sound are absolutely fantastic. I would not hesitate (if I didn't already own the B/B) to get a B/W.

Re: The Snare Wires General Info Thread

I'm no aficionado of snare wire, but I've tried a few different versions from Pure Sound, Tama, and Fat Cat. I used to play some (I think made by Tama) made of stainless stranded cable for a while...

Re: Custom Graphic Bass Drum Heads

I ordered a new InkedByEvans head with my own photo background and added text on Jan 24th. I received it today. ;)
The claim 2 weeks from art approval to ship now, and it looks like they are making...

Re: Any thoughts about the new PDP Kit? (Sporting the newer PDP Logo)

I like the lugs and actually prefer them to the classic DW lugs which I've always found oversized and very clunky looking.

Re: Ultimate Ludwig USA Drum Set Shootout - Video

The Keystone X definitely sounded less resonant to me, maybe a result of the hardness of oak, or the mounting, or both?. Classic Maple sounded the best to me, but they all sounded pretty great.

Re: Hoop comparison video from Tama

I just sent an email off to where I bought mine to see if Tama or they can help me out in some way. I'll let you know if anything positive comes from it.

Re: What drum kit is this? - Plus my vote for greatest Drummer Photo ever

Great photo. One of my brothers bands "Pacific Cross" toured with Buddy Miles Band back in the early 70s.

Re: The New Tama Starclassic Walnut/Birch

Seems like B/B could grow in value, not that I care, because I'll be keeping my kit till I die (too good).

Re: Custom Graphic Bass Drum Heads

Found the gift card for $49 through Woodwind and Brasswind (https://www.wwbw.com/Evans-Inked-by-Evans-Custom-Bass-Head-Gift-Card-H68562-H68562000000000.wwbw).

Re: Custom Graphic Bass Drum Heads

I thought Inked by Evans was expensive. Get a gift card off Amazon for $70. Mine was a custom picture using a picture I took and it turned out fantastic.

Wow! Great stuff. I love my B/B but the W/B looks and sounds very nice.

Re: Middle tom doesn't resonate

So... a drummer has two ears (most anyway), and each ear may (will) have a different frequency response curve which could account for positional sensitivity of the toms.

Re: Hoop comparison video from Tama

I agree. I'm not a hard hitter either and I never use sticks over 5A (and mine are maple at that). Who do we call?

Re: Hoop comparison video from Tama

I have to qualify this with the fact that custom brass rim is on the Tama hand hammered copper snare and it is 8 hole instead of 10 like all of my other snares, so I'm not sure how much is the rim...

Re: Hoop comparison video from Tama

One thing I've noticed that hasn't been mentioned is cross stick which to me sound much better (and easier to get a good crack ) on cast hoops then anything else I've tried.

Re: Hoop comparison video from Tama

The customized mighty brass hoops (shaved down), I think are the hoops that came with my Star Reserve HH Copper snare. I love the sound, but the rims are soft enough that I've noticed some marring...

I have a Kopf (https://www.kopfpercussion.com/) and it sounds fantastic and is a beautifully made instrument.
I recently got a PR video link from them (bought my cajon a couple years ago).
It's a...

...with the Carlos Montoya band and what a great, solid, player. The band was fantastic. The venue was small and intimate, and the sound system was good. Rena's playing was incredibly tasteful, and...
