Re: Can you read sheet music?

I beg to differ that the 3 are identical. the 3rd line 7 stoke interpretation is different that the top 2 because it is a single 8th note tied to another 8th note with the 6 stokes to be played...

Re: Peart - would you hang out with him?

I'd certainly sit and drink a dram of The Macallan with him but I definitely wouldn't want to talk drums. I'd be more interested in talking traveling.

Re: Head and tuning choice for Ludwig Epic

Thanks for the recommendations. The coated G2 were exactly the right choice. the G2 are so much better than the G1 I had been using before. The sound difference is night and day.

Re: Head and tuning choice for Ludwig Epic

Maybe I'll give the G2 a try. I do agree with the earlier posts that the toms tend tto sound a bit thin. The G1 probably accentuates that a bit. I also have the Euro set up with an added 8" tom. I...

Head and tuning choice for Ludwig Epic

Anyone with a Ludwig Epic kit have recommendations on head choice? I have Evans clear G1 on the top and bottom right now. I just can't get them to sound good.

Re: Wanting to join a marching band

Bass drum was always my favorite instrument. When I moved past high school and got into my college drumline and drum corps all I wanted to play was bass drum.

I still teach high school groups to...

Re: Sabian purchasing Crescent Cymbals

I had seen Crescent post on their FB page in the midst of the sale conversation that the DW/Sabian distribution deal was off but I didn't see anything more specific than that.

Re: Sabian purchasing Crescent Cymbals

Stanton was part owner of Crescent if I'm not mistaken along with Jeff Hamilton. They broke away from Bosphorus. Both of their signature lines wr essentially the same things Bosphorus made for them.

Re: Sabian purchasing Crescent Cymbals

I think Crescent made some really solid jazz cymbals. I really like the Stanton Moore series and I considered buying some of their Vintage series before I got a set of K Cons I really liked.

It...

Sabian purchasing Crescent Cymbals

No official release yet that I have seen but it was posted on the Crescent FB page that they are selling to Sabian officially.

Sounds like the Crescent name will continue at least for the time...

Re: What drummers have marched?

One of my professors in college marched in the '82 Bridgemen tenor line with Tommy. I think its cool he still uses the Bridgemen snare line thumb fulcrum trick on his drum solos. I caught him doing...

Re: What drummers have marched?

Chad Sexton was in the Railman and Sky Ryders.

I don't believe he did drum corps but I believe Jason Sutter was a member of the University of North Texas drum line.

Re: Ordering custom drums from Ludwig

But its not any cheaper to do it that way either so they are making all the profit. The prices they have listed there are also the same prices listed from my local drum shop.

Re: Novak moves to Sakae.

How many people bought Ludwig because Ringo used them? Bonham?

I think that's the point of an endorser. Companies use endorsers to help sell their product.

Re: Have I damaged my mount system?

I've not take apart my New Classic but I'm not sure you'd need to take the head off to check this. The mount is completely exterior to the shell so if something is loose enough on one of the New...

Re: Sound deadening options in a basement

I'm sort of leaning towards the foam panel route in some strategic places on the wall. I just need to do some research on the best way to mount it to concrete walls. I don't necessarily want to do...

Sound deadening options in a basement

I'm looking at ways to deaden the sound in my basement of my house. It was built in the 1940's and while there is carpet on the "finished" part of the basement floor, the walls are concrete and the...

As a drumline teacher, there is also a bit of a movement going on over the last 10 years or so to go back to the tilted snare even though the modern carrier has been flat since probably the late...

Re: What would one pay for 1969 LM400?

Thanks for the info. I actually decided to pass on the drum because I decided I'd rather have some new hardware and throne for my kits. Those drums are always available. The price was 170. Seemed...
