Re: Memory Lane......

Era 1972-75
First set. It was a 1957 Slingerland set. 20" bass, 12" & 14" toms.
I canabalized it with at 14" concert tom as a ride around 1974.

Re: Favorite Versions Of Songs

Probably my favorite song of all time is Jumpin' Jack Flash by Johnny Winter And live from around 1972(1969?). Much better (IMHO) than the Stones version.
The other that I can think of is...

Re: Ist gig done...underwhelming

1st gigs never go like you like you imagine they will. That's natural. I remember playing my first gig back in 1974. The whole band was paid $50!
But, we always recorded our gigs and listened and...

Re: New from Gretsch!

I really wanted one of these a year or so ago but Gretsch didn't offer an 18" floor tom as an accessory. That was a deal breaker for me.

Re: Bass drum lifts my pedal

Many people here feel the front of the bass drum needs to be raised. How much?
I have a 20" bass and the front is a good 1'' off the floor. I don't see the point of raising it more than that.

Re: Bass drum lifts my pedal

What pedal is it? I use an Iron Cobra and it does the same thing. I ended up not tightening down the clamp tight. Just snug, and just keep the bass drum legs down and keep the drum from sliding away.

Re: For dad

Seems like many people had Slingerlands as a first kit. My dad bought mine for me around 1970. It was a 1957 set (stamped inside the shell). I cannibalized it over the 5-6 years I played them. I...

Re: Buying a used kit online from GC

I've sent an e-mail to GC with an offer and they have accepted my offer. (I didn't buy it).
They will listen to offers and many times accept the offers, just be reasonable.
