Re: What drums intrigue you that you have NEVER owned

Re: Turning Points?

I don't believe you. ;-)

Andy, this is exactly the kind of thing I'm curious about. Care to share a story or two?

And in case this wasn't clear, this was all about playing music, not...

Re: Turning Points?

Great responses so far, thanks for sharing.

Yes, that was absolutely part of the experience for me. He was using backline from the venue and had a 12" Rogers tom, a mismatched Gretsch floor...

Turning Points?

So, I saw/heard Bill Stewart the other night playing with John Scofield. And I didnít just see/hear him, I sat three feet behind him, just to his left!

It was un-freakng-real!! Like the cheapest...

Re: A personal report - UK Drum Show

I think so too and frankly, it's heartbreaking. I mean, look at those instruments, the fruits of Andy's passions, ingenuity, commitments to the highest standards possible and powerful work ethic....

Re: Anyone ever use the Porters and Davies stuff?

I'll add my praise to what's already been collected here. With the P&D, you actually feel and "hear" the instrument, including the tone and the duration of the notes. It's like it "elevates" my bass...

Re: What's actually going well for you in your world of music?

=> Agreed, nice job!

Somewhat related to music: This past spring and summer, I've cleaned up my diet and gotten back to doing a ton of cycling. I'm now leaner and more energetic than I've been in...

Re: Pearl Session Studio Select??

I had one of their top-of-the-line thrones and after a few years of use, the clamp that locks the spindle in place broke. I emailed Pearl, they asked for my address, and a few days later a new throne...

Re: Important announcement - Guru Drums

Andy,

This is really big news. If I make it all about me, there's a weird mixture of feeling very sad about the loss whilst also very fortunate to own and play your drums.

Of course, it's not...

Re: Melodic drumming story on NPR Music

My thoughts are that this is pretty freaking cool! Thanks for sharing it Al.

Regarding your reasons:

1. I agree. Well done for a brief video meant to engage a general audience.

2. The...

Looking good Neal! That's a timeless finish on those Oak Customs; those drums are always going to get it done. And, I remember your excitement about the Jade Green Sparkle finish when Yamaha...

Re: Get better Andy!

Really glad to hear about these developments Andy.

This is good for me to read. Super easy for me to get hung up on "stuff" instead of just loitering (intentionally) in the enjoyment of it...

Re: Evoking Emotions through Drums

Re: Evoking Emotions through Drums

Some of my earliest memories of being fascinated by and with drums involved me as a kid watching parades. I could hear cadences in the distant, gradually getting louder and louder until the bands...
