Ludwig absolutely offered square sizes. Having worked retail for almost 20 years....I ordered a few of them for customers in the late 80s early 90s. A couple guys I know still have them in fact.

Having been in retail sales for 19 years and, owning most every manufactures drums over the 30+ years I've been playing (I'm a gear head, Haha) I can comfortably say yes they are.

I don't rely on rebound at all really. I play really lose drum heads and have never really thought abut it too much. Maybe because I like to tune low...lead to me using more wrist. Who knows! Haha.

I've always been an advocate of playing as much wrist as possible when playing the blast beat stuff, rolls, etc.
Only for the simple reason of sound.

It depends on the notation of the blast beat.
Most of the time, I play the bomb blast with my right hand on the snare...exactly opposite of a traditional blast.
My Hands always alternate playing...

You'll be surprised at what you can learn from recording yourself. And, video taping as well. You should do that as much as possible. You can correct and improve on so much when you see it.
