Re: How O.C.D. are you guys with your drums?

When I made this thread, I didn't mean to misuse the term "OCD" so I think people need to lighten up a bit and not be so sensitive. It's a drum forum.

Aside from that, thanks for the opinions. I...

Re: How O.C.D. are you guys with your drums?

I have my kit set up right-handed, but lead with my left hand. That sometimes leads me to be sloppy with my fills and my stick will hit the underside of the rim (the shell) on accident. I have long...

Re: How O.C.D. are you guys with your drums?

Having to work as a food server to pay my way through college and other expenses, I was able to save up enough cash over the years to purchase my first high-end Mapex kit. I still own my old Rockstar...

How O.C.D. are you guys with your drums?

In terms of dents, scratches, etc.? I am always curious because I find myself bummed out every time my stick accidentally makes contact with the shell leaving a small dent or scratch. Figured there...

Re: Goodbye Saturns, hello Performance!

For the cash you'd be spending on a performance series, the Saturn is a a better value but if you really want something nice, check out the Black Panther drums.

Re: Newest tools

Damn, I'm kind of jealous. I was looking into Refs and Ref Pures when I settled on my Velvetones. It is rather mind-boggling that Pearl doesn't have that tom in stock considering Piano Black is one...

Re: Found a small nick on bearing edge

Right on thanks for confirmation. I have seen so many horror stories about bearing edge nicks and difficulty tuning. I figured since it was relatively smaller, although I could still feel it running...

Found a small nick on bearing edge

On my bass drum on the batter side. It's a velvetone kit so the edges are very sharp. The nick is rather small, almost can't see it but you can feel it running your finger over it. Anybody know how...

Re: Finally bought a kit after insane debating....

Well it's not even the wrap either, it's the outer ply of the shell as well that looks unacceptable

Re: Show us your Mapex kits!

Nice set up. I'm assuming your groove ride and hats are in brilliant finish. I got my 13" groove hats in brilliant and just recently got a 21" groove ride in natural finish. I kind of wish I got my...

Re: Pearl Reference Pure drums

Have only heard great things about Brady drums. Not sure if they're particularly handicapped by their NAMM display. Those who consider their drums know exactly what they're going to get.

As far as...

Re: Pearl Reference Pure drums

As far as I know, Pearl has always had a great reputation when it comes to drums. My buddy has a Masterworks kit that I thoroughly enjoy playing. I also got to play on a pure kit at a local GC (there...

Re: Mapex @ NAMM 2014

I believe this new SoniCLEAR launch is a type of hardware or device to manipulate the bearing edges on drums. Not sure how it can be done, but it sound like a sweet idea.

Re: Mapex @ NAMM 2014

They just released the SONIClear mounts last year as part of the Black Widow and Saturn IV kits. If it is a new mount, I hope it is able to be installed on a Velvetone kit

Re: Diggin' this clean looking Ludwig kit

Atlas mounts seem like a good idea, but the thought of a 12" 8 mm tom suspended by a single lug scares me.

Re: RUPPS DRUMS...Are they a reputable seller???

Bought my Velvetones and they hooked it up with no tax + free shopping + a free matching snare and their price was also the lowest. Rupps is a great reputable seller out of Denver. They WILL take...

Re: Not sure what this is on my tom...

Thanks for the feedback guys. It doesn't seem to affect the sound so I'm not too concerned. Bought it brand new last March. I was just hoping it wasn't a crack in the ply/veneer or anything that...

I did pull the trigger on the kit after trying out some reference pures and other kits, but the matching snare as part of the deal was pretty cool. As far as reviews,

If you have flash player,...

Re: Mapex Black Panther Velvetone advice...

I have had my Velvetones for about a year since upgrading from my Tama Rockstar kit after 13 years. I absolutely love them and they were worth every penny. Got a 4 piece (10,12,16,22) brand new for...
