Re: Thomas Lang double stroke speed up/slow down

I actually personally asked Thomas the question of how to do this. He said that in order to achieve this effect, you could practice double strokes in a note pyramid fashion. So practice double...

Re: I just met Jojo Mayer and......

Ok, the OP must have edited out what was originally written since all I see is
" I just met Jojo Mayer and ......................."

What exactly did he say/do?

I've had the pleasure and honor...

Re: The Matrix question

Jeff, is that 175 - 180, playing 1/16th notes or 1/4 notes? 175 - 180 playing 1/16th notes is pretty damn fast!

Re: Your Playing area - why so poorly frequented?

Hahaha Just gotta defend myself here! Actually, I 'didn't get angry' and leave the forum. What happened was that I got accepted into The Drummers Collective in NYC and moved here. So things got a...

Re: 'Most difficult drum beat ever recorded'

Thanks for pointing this out! I have made the correction (I left out the bass drum on the 'and' of 2) and reattached the PDF to the original post.

On first listen, you can't hear the unaccented...

Re: 'Most difficult drum beat ever recorded'

I think you're referring to quantization, but it was definitely done on a drum machine... a Linn LM-1 to be exact.

Re: 'Most difficult drum beat ever recorded'

I used to feel this way too at first but I personally find it easier to digest a complicated drum groove such as this one. The hi hat part is really the hardest part of the beat, therefore learning...

'Most difficult drum beat ever recorded'

So I played a gig last night in NYC (Lower East Side to be specific) and hung out for a bit after the show. The guys in the band and myself sat talking with some of the audience members about music,...

Re: The Rudimental Ritual Brush Variation?

I'm sure it would be a lot of fun incorporating sweeps and whatnot into the RR but playing it as it is is hard enough!

I've been practicing the RR strictly with brushes so far but every now and...

Re: Alesis Pro USB kit

There are several reasons why you're hearing a delay... could be that your computer isn't powerful enough to handle BFD. You should visit the Fxpansion forum and find out the specs for running BFD...

Re: Alesis DM5 Help

Try checking your cable, it may be a cable problem. If it is indeed the module's input thats not working and it's not under warranty, then I guess you're out of luck. At least now you have some ideas...

Re: Help with the software Transcribe please.

I find Audacity to be simple and very easy to use so I don't know what you mean by there being more steps.
For video, I use the FLV player. Clear video... slowing down capabilities. FLV player is...

Re: Help with the software Transcribe please.

I hate to say this, but you could have saved that $50 and opted for 'Audacity' instead. You can slow down any song without changing the pitch... the best part is that Audacity is free! Saving a...

Yeah... I'm fully aware that Dawson was the teacher of many greats, including MY favorite drummer of all time, Mr. Vincent Colaiuta. That's part of the reason why I've gotten into Ramsay's book. ...

Yay! I've just completed The Rudimental Ritual at 140bpm with the brushes! I have it memorized and everything seems to be executed cleanly. It baffles me how Alan Dawson played this at 210bpm, and...
