I recently purchased one of the new DW Top Edge snare drums. The shell is roughly 1/4 brass on the top, so I get the attack of metal and some of the cut, but it's warm because the 3/4 of the shell...

By double 45 I'm referring to a teepee shaped bearing edge, very sharp and pointed. The edge would contact the resonant head in a similar fashion to a tympani and the head would seat better. ...

So I've put in an order with the great folks at Risen Drums in Minneapolis MN to create a custom kit for me. I'm getting 6 ply maple shells with reinforcement hoops, round over edges and wood hoops....

I remember reading a ModernDrummer a while back with David Garibaldi on the cover. I believe he had the 10/13/16 thing goin' on. And his drums always sound good.
