Re: Hey Joe: Great drumming or overplaying?

I think you have not catched the sarcasm in my previous reply, because i agree with everything you wrote..

People who say that Mitch Mitchell is 'overplaying' songs, in my opinion seriously have...

Re: Jojo Mayer - Questions

My opinion about all those 'artist'-products is, that if you like them you should buy them, but you should never buy them with the idea that those products will make you play or sound in any way like...

Re: Hey Joe: Great drumming or overplaying?

* Jim Morrison was only 24 on The Doors debut album, i guess thats why those lyrics and performance sound that immature..

* Angus Young was only 20-24...

Re: New "quiet" drum kit !

In my opinion that depends on what you consider 'suitable'..

But, basically on a very low volume gig, even playing only on a wooden chair with a pair of brushes can be suitable..

Everything has...

Re: "too Busy"

My first question would be why exactly the opinion of those 2 guitarists should be considered that important..

Unless you play with them in a really top-level coverband, which in my little country...

Re: Stage Fees?

I am European and i think 'tipping' is considered different here than in the US..Like, i can not imagine to go tip the DJ, because i assume that he gets paid for being the DJ..Same for the bouncer,...

Re: Mike Terrana

I visited i think at least 100 clinics in my life, most of them allready some time ago since they are not organized that much anymore, but the one from Mike Terrana has been the only one were i...

Re: Learning heel up

I agree about Colin Bailey..

His DVD 'Bass Drum Technique' and book 'Bass Drum Control' are highly recommended in this case..

Re: Not sure how to do this

Edit.

I just deleted a not relevant example, but the idea was that also professional engineers/producers/etc deliver bad sounding recorded drums sometimes..

Allthough personal taste is also...

Re: Always nice to hear a never released before Porcaro track..

Would be nice if they would also release the Old Is New album seperate from that limited new $500 boxset, which is allready sold out apparently..

I am curious if the other 6 previously unreleased...

Re: #SKFBlog - Al Duncan: Big Ears and a Good Memory

I know that this argument is used a lot when people add a new drummer to the drummers-section from the forum, but in this case i honestly think that a rhythm & blues recording legend like Al Duncan...

Re: Gigging Mishaps

Sitting in front of 4.500 people for a 1 hour set with an apparently bad snare drumhead, without bringing a second snaredrum..

Literally the first note that i played that drumhead broke..

I was...

Re: Shariq Tucker (a young prodigy from the Bronx)

These 2 sentences from that post show exactly what i meant with one of my other posts in this thread..

Thats internetforum-behaviour, trying to make the other look stupid while saying nothing...

Re: Shariq Tucker (a young prodigy from the Bronx)

Nothing that i write on this forum is meant personal, because i really think that i could get along pretty well with most of the people here when i would sit with them in one room, but i have to say...

Re: Shariq Tucker (a young prodigy from the Bronx)

Threads like this show why internetforums in general should not be taken that serious..

Internetforums have own rules, a own hierarchy..Like, for example, a father who is looking for a drumset for...

Re: Shariq Tucker (a young prodigy from the Bronx)

That was kinda the discussion untill now, and then you post this..:

Re: Is this statement about 'hired guns' kinda true or not..?

Thats a very valid question and in my opinion very little value should be given to those 'sales' numbers nowadays..

Like, untill lets say 15 years ago you knew that a hit was a hit, because that...

Re: Shariq Tucker (a young prodigy from the Bronx)

With drummers i am anyway rarely very impressed anymore about 'that new guy that everyone should hear'..

Like, regarding technique, everything is just not evolving that much anymore since Colaiuta...

Re: Is this statement about 'hired guns' kinda true or not..?

I have no idea about actual record sales in the US, but cutaway79 was speaking about a 'multi-platinum artist'..

Here (Dutch) no artist in the world is selling anything anymore that even comes...

Re: Is this statement about 'hired guns' kinda true or not..?

The tricky question with me and all my principles would ofcourse be..:

What would be your answer if Taylor Swift's management calls tomorrow for a 1 year tour on those conditions..?

And my...
