Re: TAMA Superstar Hyperdrive, Maple (2015) vs YAMAHA Stage customs, birch (2014)

6 Months ? Oh, the...

Re: Yamaha Recording Customs - Help!!

Aluminium foil and water will clean up the chrome a treat. The foil is soft and non abrasive. I just used foil to clean up a 68 supra and it worked great.

Re: What I need

You need a set of Ultraphones, or Vic Firth isolation headphones, an iPod/iPad/iPhone and a metronome app. Hearing protection with a click.

Mr Relish.

Re: Ludwig LM402

The COB supras have a welded shell. Just look for the seam. They also have an extra bend on the bearing edge fold at the inner end.

Re: Restoring hardware on an old kit

Soak them in cola. The acid in the cola eats the rust. Even better is to use citric acid. Won't hurt the chrome. Then polish with aluminium foil and water.
I did this when refurbishing my Acrolite....

Re: My 1st post: Help with Ludwig Snare.

Is that lug-splay standard ludwig supra, or is there meant to be a spacer under the imperial lugs ?

That drum is a steal, and would go for $300 plus down-under dollars here in Australia.

Good...

Re: Realistic Expectations

Don't ask yourself "will I ever be that good ?", ask yourself "can I have as much fun as them ?". I will never be as good as JoJo Mayer, but I bet I am having as much, if not more fun.

Re: Yamaha snare sound?

What size hoops do the stage custom birch use ?
I have an 1st gen stage custom snare, with 1.6 mm hoops.
I'm thinking that a 2.3mm hoop on the batter side will reduce the ring some.
Would be worth...

Re: Drumming Barriers/Plateaus

Slow twitch vs fast twitch muscle fibers. Endurance vs speed. You have what you are born with, you just have to work with what you've got.

Well done, you must be a persistent fella.

Re: New to me Acrolite

I got my Acro on Ebay for $90. I was lucky that it was listed as "Ludwig Snare", so searching for an "Acrolite" wouldn't bring it up. $130 landed in Australia.
Needed new heads and snare, but the...
