Re: 28" vs. 26" Kicks, Help!

I would personally never transport an acrylic drum without a hardshell case, I've owned them, and just wouldn't risk it. I have a custom case that fits any of my bass drums and most of the rest of a...

Re: 28" vs. 26" Kicks, Help!

Whats the depth your looking to get? I have a 28x16 and a 26x16, The only thing that sucks about the 28, is to get a case, your going to have to get something custom made if you plan to move it...

Ludwig Stainless Steel review

I haven't been on DW too often the past few months, but I was asked to do an interview on the gear I used on my bands latest recording. I ended up using a orphaned ludwig ss, and was pretty pleased...

Re: My Bass Drum Is Bigger Than Yours

who me? I have a 28x16 Keller bass drum, and it sounds amazing in a loud heavily amplified band. I also practice on a kit owned by my guitarist with a 28x14 3ply Slingerland kick, complete with 22"...

Re: A Tale Of Two Snare Drums

I have both the pdp 20 ply snares maple/bubinga and birch in 14x6.5. I got both of them for the price of a new one, but I wouldn't recommend them. They only seem to sound good at a very high tension,...

Re: New drum kit! Woohoo 28" Ludwig kick. Need some help...

Step 1- add Aquarian SKII, Step 2-sound awesome.

Don't stuff a pillow and blankets in it, my 28x16 sounds just fine with the only muffling coming from the Aquarian super kick 2 head. Mess around...

Re: Coolest bass drum ever?

Thanks for the info steve, I think I'll look around for a while. At the least the 16x16 Tama superstar I have that is an orphan can be re-wrapped in to match.

Re: Coolest bass drum ever?

The cast bronze shell snares are expensive. I have like 300ish$ invested in this so far, and the tree bronze ocheltree snares are like 3000 for a 14x8 that I don't have. I think a rolled thinner...

Re: Coolest bass drum ever?

Here is another bad quality phone picture of me using it tonight along with a dw 14x8 steel snare and a 16x16 tama chrome superstar.

Is it as heavy as it looks? Yes I need to weigh it, but easily...

Re: Ludwig Black Magic 13x7 snare VS Ludwig Bronze hand hammered 14x6.5 Snare

Not really equal snares IMO. The 13x7 BM is a nice drum I owned one for a while. However the Bronze is a seamless USA made shell. Bronze is warmer than brass, with less ring (especially a hammered...

Re: The Ludwig Curse

I love how ludwig drums sound too, but of my two ludwig kits and 4 snares, only my blackro is not pre 1980's chicago made. Hopefully it works out for you and they take it back, if it's less than a...

Re: Ludwig acrolite vs blackrolite vs lm 402 6.5"

276 for an acro? the 5 or 6.5? if it's a 5 Get one USED! I bought a late 80's Blackro, case, and stand for 80$ the past week.It had factory heads on them that looked brand new, but I swapped um...

Re: A Tale of Two Bass Drums

I've owned 22x14 22x16, 22x18, 24x14, 24x16,26x16,28x16. The 26 gets super punchy if you crank the tension up. i run mine with PS3's no muffleing, no port dw plastic beater very tight tension. I...

Oxnard Adventures

I went on a road trip this week to see the band SLEEP in Oakland. On the way back to Arizona, my friend and I opted to take the 101 over the boring I-5 to stop at our favorite Knife company's...

Re: 80's Imperialstar

With in the last year I sold my 80's Imperalstars in the same finish as these a 12-13-14-15-16-18-24 no snare, just 1 tom stand and bass drum tom mount for 700 via CL. They were not as nice as these...

Re: Which kit to buy???

Since your CX is a 22x18 why not get the yammy with the 22x14, two different sounds. Also if you ever need to re-sell it you'd probably get atleast what you payed.

Re: 13x8 home built steel snare

It looks killer, but I'd love to hear it with a Coated batter head, and maybe a diecast hoop up top. Sounds a little to boingy in that video. Is it a g1 clear as the batter? Either way I think it's...

Re: Ludwig vistalites

Cheap? Then I'd try Ebay and Craigslist. I orphaned a 22x14,15x13,18x16 and a piglite snare around 600 USD via cl and being patient. Sounds killer, I record on it all the time.

If you want to...

Re: Drum Sizes?

This^^^ backed

I've had 22x20, 22x18, 22x16, and 22x14 kicks. The 22x14 cuts better because it's more punchy. I sold the 22x20 as soon as I could, and I have a same company series/same wood drum...

Re: DW Nickel Over Brass?...

If money is an issue I'd look into something used. Pretty much every brass snare except a black beauty is going to be way cheap used. I picked up a 14x5 Tama brass Kenny Aronoff (engraved shell, all...

Re: Big toms - How much more annoying is 16" and 18" floor toms compared to 14" and 16"?

I always gig an 18. The 2inch case difference really isn't a big deal. You will have more of an issue with a bigger bass drum if you are hauling it around in a super tiny car.
