It will obviously depend on the depth of the toms. I use a rack with a 12 x 9 tom that is about 2 inches above the bass so that would make it 32-33 inches off of the floor.

Any chance you get to play with a group, play. If the music isn't your first choice you will learn playing with a group, and that can only help down the road.

I'm guessing most of this has to do with consistent build quality. as for the sound there are so many foot pedals and electronics now that i don't think it matters. ButI don't play a guitar.
