Re: Buddy Rich

Re: Drummers that can't tune drums.

I too can tune my drums pretty well. I've put in a lot of time to get to know how my drums should sound. But, this is once again only from the driver's seat.

For me, my method for the mounted...

Re: Is this suspicious?

I would question this e-mail, too.

I'm sure it's spam. The fact that you're a drummer is probably on the inter-web in a multitude of places and this e-mail got attached to your name.

Re: Room sound isolating help

Try jamming an ice pick into each ear.

Just kidding. Most sound proofing ideas that I've run across seem to require a lot of thought, money, time, and construction.

From you post it seems that...

Re: Ringo's Drumming: Harder Than It Looks

You know, this thread (as well as all the other “Ringo” threads) simply amaze me. No matter what kind of drummer you are, professional, weekend warrior, hobbyist, or air, you have undeniably been...

Re: Audio only snare drum comparison between...

Maybe Bernard Purdie was actually playing one of the drums and Ringo was playing the other. Now we just need to figure out who was playing what and whether or not Larry's recording was overdubbed in...

Re: Ringo's Drumming: Harder Than It Looks

Let's just contact Ringo and ask him directly. Does anyone have his e-mail address handy?

Re: looking for new metal snare.

Where are you from? Do you have access to hit a few different drums - like a music store nearby?

Please don't underestimate the advice you're getting on this forum. These people KNOW what...

Re: Audio only snare drum comparison between...

Larry, you're listening to the snare drums live and state that "I like it not just a little more than the BB, easily a couple magnitudes above that." That's a very fair assessment. However, what is...

Re: New to me Acrolite

I completely agree. I bought my Black Galaxy Acrolite about 18 months ago, and while it has taken a back seat to my Supraphonic, I will never give up this drum.

Re: Comparative use of forums.

In a word, Yes. It's much easier to acquire stuff than it is to acquire skill.

Maybe the cheaper drum has that desired '"sound" and the more expensive one didn't.

Re: It's the room not the kit !

So, how DOES one tune for the room? Just by listening to the drum(s)? Is it that simple?

Not having much experience in playing other rooms, I would like to understand and know how to do this?

I think Madge wants our help so she can figure out what 3 songs to take off her iPhone.

I was one of the "late" starters when it came to playing the drums - I played my legs, the table, the steering wheel, and just about anything else I could bang my hands on for most of my life. I...
