Re: Is Ringo a good drummer?

Last week I was playing a Beatle song live on stage with my band.
I tried bouncing my head as I played just like Ringo did. I very quickly got dizzy (miss lizzy) and I felt seasick.
And I could...

Re: My drum tuning

Here is the easy way to do this.

Tune one rack tom high, and one rack tom low. Have someone else play your drums. Go out in the audience and listen to them. Then you will know.

This is what...

Re: The 2015 funky Guru snare competition starts now! Entry details :)

Based on what eric B said, I think maybe a short discussion of the track is warranted here. I do find the Yolandaís track rather challenging.

The first part of the track is pretty straight...

Re: The 2015 funky Guru snare competition starts now! Entry details :)

Re: Been documenting my snare drums more.

Excellent playing BillRay.

Your video just goes to show, a snare is a snare but how you play makes all the difference.

Re: Told to hit harder

If that was indeed the case, I think the sound engineer could have adjusted the drums to be as loud as they needed them. I don't get it???

Re: How stupid is this?

Pretty funny.

It would only be stupid if you played it for a while set up like that.
And then you posted one of those threads titled "Please help me, I'm experiencing pain in my _______ ."

Re: No more jam sessions for me. I'm done

I wish I could spend a couple of days with you. I know I could help you and change your mind about soloing.

For the most part when your playing with the band nobody in the audience is...

Re: Sloppy fills

I have seen this many times.

The drummer has a good 2&4 backbeat, but as soon as they try to play 8th, 16th or 32nd notes the rhythm of the fill goes out the window.

By the way, Keith Moon was...

Re: No more jam sessions for me. I'm done

Righton Larry. Good post !

And sometimes the drummer is the best musician in the group. But I assure you, no one would ever admit that.

Re: Santos rosewood snare video

I'd say your demo room has nice acoustics. Not a lot of echo or anything nasty.

The two mics work great.

I don't like the low and high tunings. But oh boy that medium tuning sounds...

I could only think of two possibilities:

OK, I'll fess up. She was the bass player's girlfriend.
She was wearing shorts and a T shirt. It was the second time she watched us play.

( But it seems like she was staring at the graphics on...

Actually Part 3 of this series may have some validity.

"In PART 3, Iíll teach you about the psychological nuances associated with color versus sound."

Re: Can you fix this tom?

I know this sounds like a brutal thing to do to a Rodgers drum set, but try removing the re-rings.

Re: Toms on the Backbeat

I was the first one to use toms for the back beat.

It was 1956. I was 6 years old and I was playing "Hound Dog" by Elvis Presley.
I played it that way because I did not know any...
