First off, you DO NOT want to record directly into your laptop microphone port.... You will need to look into an audio interface that will convert your signal to digital format at a high quality...

It wont affect the sound at all... If your really picky you can call up the dealer and I'm sure they will have no problem replacing it.

BTW What kind of snare was it?

The only thing I would hope to be changed is the floor tom legs, they seem to slip or you have to REALLY tighten them down because the etching in the rods seems to not...

Syncopation by ted reed is a great book for independence, also check out "A funky primer" by I believe Charles Dowd its a rock/funk oriented book that will help w/ your coordination.

Besides whats been pointed out, I personally wouldnt take the bite on this one, the toms all seem to be fairly deep but if thats what your going for then whatever, price is a little steel considering...

If it where me ide use a side snare with the snares off or a timbale, but I'm sure you can get the sound your looking for with just 1 drum but I'm not the one who knows ;-D

I checked out some arbiter flats on a paisc video seemed pretty sweet for a little practice or even a gig kit. and for like $500 its relatively cheap.
