Re: Take a look at free drumming app!

This sounds really cool. I'm looking forward for the beta release. What's the estimated date it will be ready?

Re: Drummers you like on youtube

Alex Ribchester is a fun drummer on YouTube. I've learned lots of fun fills and beats from his videos.

Stephen Taylor is great also.

Re: would you buy a ludwig accent drum set...

For $85, you really can't go wrong. I bet they can sound pretty decent with good heads and tuning. How is the condition of the shells?

Re: THE CLASSIFIEDS - For Sale / Wanted

Just to let you know, I can get that same cymbal brand new on eBay with the warranty for $299. Lowering your price would be wise....

Re: When you go to a drum store...

Wow, that is a good looking drum! Love the lugs. I hate going onto music stores, because I feel like I need to buy the whole percussion section ;)

Re: Favorite throw off and why?

I love throw-offs that are simple, but smooth and reliable.

Re: Favorite floor tom size and why?

I guess I would maybe like to try a shallower one. I don't like my drums to ring out forever. That's what shortening the depth does. It decreases resonance and increases attack, because there is less...

Re: Favorite floor tom size and why?

15x15 would be my pick. Just like MusiQmaN said, sometimes 14" is too small and 16" is too big.

Re: Which set or should I wait for a while.

I would also recommend a used drum set. You can completely go to the next tier. There's an awesome deal on a set of used Mapex Saturn's on guitarcenter.com....

Re: Steel Snares???

I put an Evans HD genera dry on my steel snare, and it did just the thing to kill all of the nasty overtones. Id highly recommend using it.

Re: Better to buy a used fully set up kit or go parts at a time

Sounds accurate. I have a 20" A medium ride. I can use it for jazz or anything else. Maybe just not combo jazz. And it cannot crash, at all...

Re: Better to buy a used fully set up kit or go parts at a time

The ping rides definitely are pretty pingy and shrill. The vintage 22" A rides thougg are sweet, sweet jazz rides.

Re: Better to buy a used fully set up kit or go parts at a time

Looks like you need something versatile. Just stick with Zildjian A. And don't buy into the crap that Zildjian A cymbals are only good for rock. Buddy Rich used Zildjian A cymbals, and they worked...

Re: Better to buy a used fully set up kit or go parts at a time

I would also check ebay and guitar center's used inventory. I counted about 3 or 4 sets of Sabian As hi hats for $100. Killer deals IMO. And also make sure to get a throne with a spindle base or...

Re: Guitar Center's used inventory

I just went onto their website and looked at the pricing for used 5-piece kits. They will ship it to your door for around $35 for a 5-piece kit. Freaking cheap IMO!

Re: What's your latest purchase?

My insanely cheap and crappy Peavy stock snare stand finally broke a couple days ago (after a year and a half!!! The base tube was only like 5/8" in diameter!). It did its job though.

So I just...

Congratulations! I also just barely broke my first drum stick, after about 1.5 years of playing.

Re: What's your favorite drumset category? Drums, cymbals or hardware

I am literally obsessed with cymbals. I can look at them all day and research them all day. Drums come in close second. I could care less about the hardware.
