Re: Oh my word... That fill!

I just thought of one:

Mike Portnoy from Dream Theater - Glass Prison

I think its a little more than halfway through the song. He goes crazy switching from snare to toms back and forth, and it...

Re: Oh my word... That fill!

Personally I like all the fills in "Shortest Straw" by Metallica.

As for my own fills......

I used to have this problem BIG TIME. Including at gigs.

Up in my bedrrom (which is where my drumset is), I bought this really huge black carpet to set it on. It digs into the carpet and doesn't...

Re: The Rev died today

I always thought that he was one of those really technical drummers, combining speed and complexity. He really made there records sound full.

I beleive its "Bat Country", the song where I just...

Re: 'Downgrading' equipment to upgrade your playing

Personnaly, I don't like this idea.

I think you should play with whatever setup you'd regularly play with, so that you master it. Yes, downgrading can make you more creative, but its just not...

My record for personnal jam time is right around your time.
But I have jammed for several more hours with my band-mates.

So fun you don't even realize the time passing by......

Re: Sum yourself up

Hmmmmm...

How about:

-Highly charismatic thrash/heavy metal drummer who could use some help understanding odd time signature.
-Believes the show is half the battle, the other half being the...

Re: someone says you suck at drums, what do u do?

I've had someone say this to me before as well.
At the time I had played only for a year, and he had been playing around the same.

I came to find out that he couldn't even play a whole song (let...

Re: Lars Ulrich

Finally, a post that makes sense.
Several of the people posting in this thread are just bashing him becuase he doesn't go double bass happy, or go nuts all of the time.

The things that matter...

Re: St Anger snare drum...

I completely agree.
Those are the two most influential members of the group, and it wouldn't be Metallica without either of them.

Re: Left Side Floor Tom

Mike Portnoy from Dream Theater used to have a kit with one.
He actually used it a lot more than you would think.

Re: Lars Ulrich

Thats strange.

Because one of the reasons that he my favorite, is because of his stage presence.
He shows a lot of emotion when he plays, and really looks like he is enjoying it.

Re: Learning a song?

I usually just listen to it several times, tapping along to the beat and fills.

Then I play along with it. (blasting a stereo next to me).

Re: ChickenFoot??

I probably won't watch it, but I do have to say something:

ChickenFoot is one of the worst band names ever.

Or Creeping Death?

I don't know if you were getting my attention, or just naming the song.

Besides, that would never work for a show or anything.
