Re: What's your weakness?

I've tried it. Not good at it.

NFL players learn ballet. Not because they want to star in a ballet but because the ends justify the means.

I love Greb but I don't know if I like that quote.

What's your weakness?

As I delve further and further down the rabbit hole of playing/practicing drums, I've found how profitable it is to pour all of my energy into my absolute weakest aspect of music, even if it's just...

Who do you listen to while playing?

I was thinking about this during rehearsal the other night. I personally am always switching between who I'm consciously listening to throughout a song.

My written part for a song differs wildly...

Re: Guitar Center nightmare

This really sucks man. To me, this almost reflects more poorly on the individual who built the return into the system as anything better than "poor" than it does Guitar Center itself. That's just a...

Re: 15 Greatest Groove Druumers of All Time

Also I feel that I should add... I really dig these threads. In this one alone I learned about at least twenty new drummers that I can go check out now (albeit a huge chunk were from Pollyanna).

I...

Re: 15 Greatest Groove Druumers of All Time

Man, speaking of being tightly wound, I came across this list the other day outside of the forum and thought it was interesting. You guys have gotten on people's tails in the past about posting...

Re: What are the good vintage drums?

Thanks for the tip on checking out Steve Maxwell's YT stuff. I'd seen the thumbnails before but had never really jumped down the rabbit hole.

As for thae routing business, it totally made them...

Re: What are the good vintage drums?

That's great information, thanks!

To clear it up for you all (wasnt' very clear in my original post), I'm not really in the market for a kit right now. I will be again someday (next two years or...

Re: What are the good vintage drums?

I always thought those two were one in the same. Like "Keystone Badge" and "Super-Classics".

Off-topic but that re-release of the Broadcaster stuff is sex. If I didn't have college textbooks to...

Re: What are the good vintage drums?

Oh gotcha. Kinda like the Ludwig transition to the thick ply maple kits in the early 70's. I'm guessing that was a trend across the industry then.

Re: What are the good vintage drums?

I agree. If I could do it again, I'd go with a modern vintage kit. I really do love my Ludwigs, but they've been more trouble than they're worth. Been really impressed with the Harbinger Drum Works...

Re: What are the good vintage drums?

Why pre-70s? Did they change the shell blend or something?

Re: What are the good vintage drums?

Yeah someone mentioned that on here at one point. Something about the quality control dropping because of the mass quantity of products they were pushing out the door at that point in time. I guess...

What are the good vintage drums?

What do you guys keep your eyes out for when you search eBay? I know that for Ludwig everyone seems to dig the late 60's Keystone badge kits (without the white paint interior), but that's about the...

Re: Fun Friday thread! Tell us what you are good at!

Re: Anyone ever share a kick drum between two drummers?

It just always seemed quirky to me for some reason. Like one of the guys was a drummer and the other just stayed at a Holiday Inn Express the night before. I guess that how I have it in my head just...

Re: Anyone ever share a kick drum between two drummers?

2 drummers facing each other. I've got a really high pitched snare (flipped upside down so I can scratch the snares) as well as a super low fat/dry snare off to my right (floor tom position) and a...

Re: Anyone ever share a kick drum between two drummers?

This is the layout that we went with tonight, as it'd be the most feasible as far as live mic'ing goes. Still doesn't quite have the look I wanted, but we'll call it a good starting point.

We...

Anyone ever share a kick drum between two drummers?

Starting a dual drummer project. I'm not a fan of the aesthetic of having two separate drum kits onstage, so I plan on having both drummers facing each other and sharing a bass drum.

Anyone ever...
