Re: A Question To Those That Collect A Number Of Drum Kits

It's a question of want, not need. Actually they are a PITA. They are extremely heavy and hard to move around but I love them. I guess that knocks my assertion on it's head.

Re: How do you save up for gear purchases?

I occasionally gig for money. Usually it is freebees. I save all of that money and put it away in a "drummers discretionary fund". I also have a couple of private students and that money also goes...

Re: hi hat dis-assembly

This looks like it would be a good topic for a poll. Do we do polls on this forum?

Re: Why is it you never see threads saying....

Re: Why is it you never see threads saying....

Well, that actually happened to me along with my drum set. When I replaced the kit, I went with the same stuff I had before (partially so I could keep my avatar) but the cymbal search was a quest to...

Re: Favorite Song to Rock out To?

One song. No album. Rock. 25 or 6 to 4 by Chicago.

Now, if you're talking big band, it would be In The Mood or Sing, Sing, Sing.

Re: Do we really need expensive drums?

I don't think "need" was ever the issue.

Re: MEMORIZING DRUM PARTS

I started playing rock 50 years ago and I don't remember how I did it then. Currently I play in a big band that uses charts so I don't have to worry about it. What little experience I had playing...

Re: What was the name of your first bands?

My apologies for resurrecting a two year old thread that everyone thought was long dead but, I just found this picture and I thought I would post it. It's from 1963 I believe.

Re: I need a bigger car for a bigger kick drum

You could just put wheels on the bass drum case and tow it behind your car, or...

Re: Anyone ever wonder if it's all worth it?

I didn't read every word of all of these posts but I can tell you this. For me it's worth it. I am not the best drummer. In fact I would bet that 80% of the drummers on this forum are better than...

Re: Xylophone pieces

The piece I mentioned earlier, Malaguena, retails today for under $4. I know, because I just ordered another copy. The Bach sonatas come in a book that, when bought, will probably cost less than...

Re: Xylophone pieces

Malaguena by Ernesto Lecuona. There is an arrangement by Howard Peterson. I played it in college and I will have a HS Sr. student working on it in the fall. It's fun to play. Also there are a lot...

...Snare Drum

Years ago I had one snare drum. I thought that was enough. Now I have six. I know a lot of you have many more than that, but I never thought I would have that many.

This is...
