Re: Beginner and older...

I started when I was 35 (3-4 yrs ago). I'm not sure I'm improving at the same rate I would have when I was 14, but I still enjoy it, and that's really all that matters at this point (its not like I'm...

Re: 10 Great Drum Albums...Random List

Yea. I was very hyper-focused on guitar back then and never really noticed stand-out drumming. Blind was one of the first albums (along with Human and Focus) where I really took notice of the...

Re: Is It Common For Some People Not To Take Care of Their Gear?

I wipe down my guitars after every use because I actually touch those.

I rarely clean or wipe my drum stuff because the contact is indirect, and I don't really care how it looks (it shares a room...

Re: anyone order from sweetwater?

Yea. I ordered $30 worth of minor stuff from them 4 years ago and still get personal calls from their sales people asking me how I'm doing, and if I need anything... Their service is too good imo.

Re: Completely different activities that in some ways are like drumming?

Re: Thumb problem

I had this problem when I started playing, to the point where I had to stop using my left hand for ~2 months. It was due to bad technique. I started taking lessons, and my teacher helped me fix my...

Re: How to improve my phrasing?

If you do want to make your own play-along tracks for this, LMMS is free/open-source and good enough to make stuff like this (along with some free VSTs or SoundFonts).

REAPER is also very cheap at...

Re: Systematic Or Creative Practice??

You've been playing 8+ years, in which I assume you've made a lot of progress, and enjoyed it, so just keep on doing what you do.

Yes, systemic practice is probably technically more effective (for...

Re: I've been stewing about this for days - RVIVR

Re: Beginner's ridiculous drum positioning

As funny as the Tom Angles thread is, I think a lot of those pics are taken by people who have never played drums. Like a kid moves out of his/her parents place and leaves a pile of drums in the...

Re: Using metronome 12/8...?

On the Rhythm Watch you should be able to put 1/4 note and 1/8triplet knobs at even volume (so that ALL 1/4s are NOT accented), and have it accent the first note (that knob next to master). That...

Re: Saturn IV vs Old Saturn

No good reason. Just old jokes here on the DW forums.

That said: At least they improved the glaring badge problems on the newer Saturns. Now it's just a scrubbing-bubble/pacman-ghost instead of a...
