Re: Can I keep my toms low on a 22" kick?

Maybe, but it's hard to squeeze in as many as Vinnie when he lets loose!

I guess that shows what years in fusion bands will do to a drummer :P

Re: Anyone prefer standard depth?

I've found I'm attracted to 5-5.5" mostly. Played mostly 6.5s my whole drumming life, except for that period in the mid to late 90s where it seemed everyone had a piccolo or three. Then I got a 5.5...

Re: Can I keep my toms low on a 22" kick?

Here's a video of Akira's setup that shows it nicely. He was the first one I noticed how highly he played his snare and the more I paid attention to others, I started seeing who did and who didn't....

Re: Can I keep my toms low on a 22" kick?

I've always struggled to get my toms as low as possible. I've found not slouching and raising up the snare helps a lot. If you look at players like Akira Jimbo, Dave Weckl, Steve Smith and to a...

Re: Keller Maple Shells

Makes sense. I've only played multi-ply kits and I must say this prolite kit is by far the nicest sounding kit I've had the pleasure to play. I do have to think a lot of it has to do with...

Re: Keller Maple Shells

Thanks for this. I've been curious about my 9-ply Prolites. They're very thin at 4mm but I've wondered with so many plies if you're basically starting to hear the glue at that point, as I'd imagine...

Re: NDD - Acrolite

Play it! :)

If it really hasn't been played much it's got a 30+ year deficit you need to catch up on.

Looks nice. What are your initial thoughts compared to your BB?

Thanks for sharing.

Re: My icecream bar....

DO YOU HAVE TO KEEP TAPPING LIKE THAT!?! YOU BLOATED SACK OF PROTOPLASM!!!!

As a drummer, I've heard that far too many times.

Re: Pearl VBL vs Tama Superstar Hyperdrive

This scares the shit out of me. Every kit you inspected was flawed? I inspected my prolites thoroughly but I'm no drum builder so I could easily be unaware due to ignorance. I'm loving them, so I...

Re: My icecream bar....

I can remove the rings easily should I want a little more sustain. I go back and forth with it on the snare often.

Re: My icecream bar....

I usually don't use them on the snare. I've found they do minimal muting on the toms, just enough. I bought moon gel but can't say I'm a fan. Guess I've always preferred the ring mutes. The snares...

My icecream bar....

Chicken pot pie, chocolate covered raisins, glazed ham! Ohhhh! They think I'm crazy, but I know better...oh my beloved icecream bar, how I love to lick your creamy center!...You're not like the...

Re: DW Collectors for Djent

Do you know what Halpern uses or what Postones uses? That might not be a bad place to start. Good luck!

Let us know what you end up getting and be sure to share some pics of your new shells.

Re: Sonor soon.

Swapped to the G2s today with the EQ3 on the kick. Tuned the resos slightly higher to kill some of the resonance too. The 14 FT sounds MUCH better now. The kick and the 12 still aren't satisfactory...

Re: Sonor soon.

Bought the boom stands because they can collapse down to straight stands if needed. I'm saving up for more cymbals, which also means more stands, so I wanted the flexibility offered by booms. I...

Re: Sonor soon.

I have a hard time believing they'd skimp on the heads on the Prolite series. Regardless, I didn't order any G1s and will use what's on there as the resos. Got a set of G2s that should arrive...

Re: Sonor soon.

Not sure if I should start a new thread or not, but I reckon I'll keep using this one until I'm ready to do a full review of the kit in a week or two.

Question about heads. I've played with a...

Thanks! That should be my dining area. I put a black cloth over the table for the individual drum shots and now it's sitting somewhere amongst all the boxes and wrapping material towards the front...

Re: Sonor soon.

Indeed. I never thought I would've owned a set. The first exposure to them was seeing Igor Cavalera jam a set of them in the Barcelona video. I will have to say I'm quite impressed. It's too late...

Re: Sonor soon.

Definitely not going to get to play them tonight. I've inspected everything so far and these things are just beautiful. The shells are so thin! I'll have to post pics tomorrow. I might set it up...
