Re: Foot pedal question

Thank you for the response.

Something is up. The left beater swings back way faster than the right does. It is surprising I am even "good" on the current set up.

Today I was about to discover...

Foot pedal question

I do not like like loose feeling or light pedals. Meaning: I want to work for the beats. I feel this has always held me back a little. With everything I have always needed to feel every note...

Re: Hey Bermuda , did you see this ?

You certainly need great musicians to master all the styles. It is completely awesome. I quoted a song that was a stylistic tribute to Devo which is one of my favorites and then there is Velvet Elvis...

Re: Hey Bermuda , did you see this ?

Totally I meant music in general for sure! I cannot think of any other group that has kept the same members, been consistently relevant and had as many hit albums in that span. That is just awesome....

Re: Hey Bermuda , did you see this ?

Ah that would be awesome! Madonna was all kinds of lame. I am a huge fan of Al & Company. Seen 'em live several times. Wish it were more! The longevity is something that will never be duplicated in...

Re: Having a very hard time picking a drum brand.

I watched the video, went to the store and was told the difference there. Perhaps I misspoke in the last thread. Flanged vs diecast right? Still listening and playing samples to hear the real...

Re: Having a very hard time picking a drum brand.

Other than having deeper toms and not having larger hoops, I don't see much difference between the Silverstars and Starclassics. Both seem high quality but Silverstars are way cheaper. More value I...

Re: Drum Solos and why you like them, or not

Drum solos on the whole don't interest me much. But when I love a drummer I love watching that drummer solo. I like drummers for a multitude of different reasons, so I guess my answer is I like them,...

Re: Should I be playing along to records?

Playing along with music is my absolute favorite thing to do. I would not be happy in life without it.

Re: Getting back on the throne after a 5 year abscence

I am not the best authority on the matter, but here is what I did / am doing.

I got real serious again at the turn of this year. I bought a metronome again. I started at 100 bpm, after a week...

Re: The first song you learned to play

It was probably a Sepultura song. I was obsessed with them in middle school.

Re: Getting better after short break periods?

Yes! I see it like working out. You work a muscle group and then you give that group 1 or 2 days to rest.

Re: Having a very hard time picking a drum brand.

Haha! You have replanted the seed of doubt! Seriously, this is the fun part. Finding that drum set of my dreams. I am still actively looking around. My idea is get the thing in the spring. It is not...

Re: Having a very hard time picking a drum brand.

Yep. Gordian Knot are the bomb! New Cynic ain't that bad either. Nice little EP to chill to.

Something about the Silverstars speak to me. I don't know what it is. I also found a new video of Mike...

Re: Having a very hard time picking a drum brand.

Today I fell in love with two Tama silverstar birch kits. One was 900 and the other was wood finish 970. Both with snare and hardware. They look like winners. I will probably be deciding between...

Re: Having a very hard time picking a drum brand.

I am way south of them, but I will certainly remember this so that when I travel up there I can see if my dream set is there waiting for me! Thank you for the referral.

Re: Having a very hard time picking a drum brand.

Yep, you guys got it. I have had three drum sets in total. They were easy buys. I just sort of fell in to them.

This time I am just getting really particular about everything early on. It is a...

Re: Having a very hard time picking a drum brand.

And therein lies the problem. So many of these kits sound different yet are all great right? Then, you have me. My tastes are a wide variety. I literally like everything. So that leaves me with wide...

Re: Having a very hard time picking a drum brand.

I am not seeing things that catch my attention at the music shops. There are several music shops, but nothing is set out that really strikes me. I will go back to each store tomorrow and give the...

Re: Having a very hard time picking a drum brand.

I have played both brands but not those specific models. I played a Mapex in high school which I have no clue what it was but I loved it and then a Tama rock star.

I want something where the toms...

Re: Having a very hard time picking a drum brand.

I have no idea on the model type beyond the brand. My friend was telling me about trying to do a custom kit, where I can save money but still get a top notch product, so I am certainly open to that....

Having a very hard time picking a drum brand.

This is driving me nuts. I am going back and forth between Mapex and Tama. I am staying up at night thinking of all the possibilities, different sounds, tones, etc. This is a really important purchase...

Re: Getting back on the throne after a 5 year abscence

I would personally want to play more on a practice pad kit than a kit with muffles on the toms, but that's me.

Also, if you don't want to break the bank on cymbals, go strictly Wuhan. I tell you...

Re: Getting back on the throne after a 5 year abscence

I love this thread. I signed up on this forum just recently because I got serious again. In 2008, I had to sell my drums and I went on over a two year hiatus. I absolutely freaking love to drum so...
