The kick pedal is free standing, I just put the spikes out and didn't hit it too hardů.

The drum is also sort of resting on the legs of the stand, I do appreciate your concerns on the weight being...

Just thought i'd share these photos of how i mounted my floor tom as a bass drum for jazz drumming without any extra hardware or mods. My bass drum is 24x16 so it was nice to play this 16x14 floor...

and it actually does create more space......

you dont have to leave a gap to get into the kit and when its not being played, you can swivel the stool around and play the piano or whatever other...

nah, for me, its more about the music that it is the musicians.
im not the type to have 10 cymbals and loads of toms, not really into my rudiments or drum solos either....
