Re: Yamaha Drums

Hi guys,

I picked up a BCA in Vintage natural this past week. They look fantastic, and am trying to dial in the sound. Right now I put on a set of Remo White Suede Emperor batters and am not 100%...

A Pearl Masterworks for 2,000 Euros?? Brand New, that MW config costs at least 3500 - 4000.

Is it used? You can buy that MW kit and a beater bass drum and have a gig kit and a practice kit!

Re: Why bother with books?

While learning to play drums from books for some is not necessary, the only way to be able to read music by sight...is to read music from books. There's no other way.

Sight reading drum charts...

Re: Famous drummers mixing cymbal brands

I got to see a clinic with the great Will Calhoun back in the Living Colour heyday. He was Pearl and Zildjian and had just switched to Sonor about a year before. The local music store holding the...

Re: Yamaha Drums

No, I think it's for the fact that they'd have to sit on a 24" bass drum for forever. The other drums are listed separately cause they know they will eventually sell. 24" kick drums...in this day and...

Re: Anybody rockin 13-16-20?

I've seen a few do 10-16-22 like Mike Johnston, but I remember a few drummers playing that configuration in the late 90's

I'd like to do 10-12-15-18-20bd someday again. I had my old Hilite kit in...

Re: Stevie Wonder - Superstition

That's fine if you want to do that, but that absolutely sucks the soul out of the tune doing that. You don't need that powerful of a "microscope" to determine whether it's 16th notes slightly swung...

Re: Yamaha Drums

I agree. I was hoping for a pro birch line in 2015. And snares! They only have two pro snares in their lineup!

I'm patient. I have a feeling that they will announce when it's ready, and it will be...

Re: Yamaha Live Custom Oak - opinions?

I bought a set of Live Customs last July 2014. Amazing kit! So much so that I am switching over everything to Yamaha! Plan this year is to buy an AMH in Vintage Natural. 10-12-14-16-20 and snare.

Re: Confusion on rolls - open or closed?

Most of the time I play rolls, it's in a concert band setting. You're in essence sustaining a quarter/eighth/half note, so I always play them closed. Unless the director instructs to do otherwise.

Re: Yamaha original Maple Custom kit - Is it worth it??

One of the best kits I ever had the chance to play was a set of Yamaha Maple Customs. If you like hanging toms for floor toms, you will not be disappointed with an MC kit. Many of the kits being sold...

yeah it's set up backwards right now. switch it so you can use the aux clamp for a splash.

DW will put a mount on the bass drum if asked, but typically they don't. This type of mount is so easy to...

that looks like Power Tom Syndrome. I had a case of it in the 90's with my Tama Granstars. Toms could only be set up over the kick one way.

You may have to angle them a bit. Hopefully not Nicko...

What I figured out was the amount of emotion you can put into a ballad, especially a...
