Re: Need opinions for new drum set

My opinion, between those two, chris adler sizes, joey jordison depths. My vote also goes to pearl reference. Same tom sound as august burns red's new album (constellations). for me having three toms...

Re: Need help with picking out a new kit

to me punchier means smaller, did you ever consider going with a smaller diamater, deeper bass drum? i'm not sure what mapex offers, but i'd check into it. but then again i might be bias since lately...

Re: Need opinions on set-ups

My vote is for kit 2. with the right heads (ec2 on the toms, emad on the bass is my preference) it will give you what you need. Matt Greiner (August Burns Red(They're a metal band in case you're...

Re: Biggest Snare Drum?

the deepest i've ever seen would probably be a 14x14 made by twisted sick custom drumworks. They do some pretty cool artwork.

Re: Selling a drum and keeping options open?

If I was you i would put the 18 on my right and the 16 to the left of my hats. Travis Orbin style. Right now that's what i do with my 12 and 16 (being as i don't own an 18). or if you'd like to have...

Re: Drum size question.

I say definitely the 10. gives you lots of options. sounds good tuned high or low. on a couple gigs i played 10 up 13 down. I know a guy that plays that setup all the time and his drums sound awesome.

Re: DW 5000 TD3 vs DW 5000 AD3???

its really a personal preference thing. i know you've probably heard that a hundred times but it really is. I have the accelerator model and i prefer it to some of my friend's pedals. they love...

Re: Drumhead sustain Q

Not contradicting anyone here, two ply heads as a general rule do have less sustain, but that doesn't mean they don't have enough. I play coated (frosted) EC2's and they have just about as much...

Re: Buying a DW, size advice please?

A 10" would give you plenty of versitility. I like a 12/16 split in a four piece though. I play a 10 12 16 right now and i'm super happy with my pitch options

Re: which custom drums company to go with?

Chaos, i think the hardest part really would be finishing the drums. i know some guys that just spray painted theirs and they don't look too bad. there are all sorts of videos of people building...

Re: which custom drums company to go with?

If you fancy yourself to be somewhat a handyman then you could buy yourself just the keller shells and then stain them to match or you could get acrylic and not have to worry about that. most places...

Re: Aspen in drums?!?

Well my drum teacher's kit has eucalyptus in it. if that tells you anything about what drum companies do.
