Re: Letting others borrow equipment

I don't lend to people I don't know well, and even then, I make them sign a written contract saying they have to replace anything that gets broken/damaged/misused. Probably not worth anything in...

Re: Drum Technique: 11 viewing, Drum Gear: 131 viewing

Huge gearhead for guitar/bass amps but when it comes to drums, technique > gear for me.

Re: Djent YouTube Video

You forgot "and while you're at it, buy my tracks". The ad post isn't as effective without it IMO.

Re: Stage volume

The first email was pretty brutal... it could have probably been worded a little more conservatively but we've all been there. I can imagine he might be a little sore afterwards but the follow-ups...

Re: Ridiculously Ignorant Newbie Questions

What I did when I was having trouble subdividing is count the stroke as the 1 lifting it back as the &. The trick is getting it into terms your mind can grasp... the sooner you make counting and...

Re: What's a good drum set that I should buy?

Yamaha Stage Custom. You will not be disappointed. It will last you a long time. Go buy it.

Also, I personally prefer Meinl cymbals but all cymbal brands have sets that aren't really worth buying....

Re: Early announcement.

Oh, wow... That is incredible. It is unfortunate that not enough consumers understand how much work goes into crafting something as nice as that kit.

Re: Stage volume

Obliterating your audiences' ears is not the best way to keep a good draw. If you bring this up to your bandmates and they would rather argue with you about it than try to improve as a band, maybe...

Re: Remember when....a little reflection

Haha, well, I am glad to say that things, fiscally, might be a little better than when you went through the rigmarole. A lot of changes happening behind the scenes. And working here is a GREAT way to...

Re: Living in apartment or flat: solutions for practice?

I went to UHaul and paid $70 a month for a climate controlled, 24 hour access and security, keycard entry storage unit where I would jam as loudly as I wanted, sometimes with a band, from midnight to...

Re: Remember when....a little reflection

Everyone I work with in drums at Guitar Center is a wealth of information. All of us spend several hours a day lurking through forums and websites learning about gear and will gladly check our facts...

I definitely haven't been here for all of this but I know the feeling of finally getting out of your comfort zone and making some musical fusion with others... congratulations!

Re: Metal drummers using Gretsch?

I don't personally know any metal players who use Gretsch but it's not like you couldn't slap some new heads on the drums and make them badass for metal. At the end of the day, the sound difference...

Re: what drum should i buy for adult

You're gonna want to budget around $800 if you want all brand new stuff or $400-600 if you want (better quality) used stuff. You can easily find mid-range complete setups for the latter range on...

Re: A few stick tricks I'd love to learn/know how they're done.

Consider how simple his hand patterns are, it's no surprise that Luke Holland had time to learn all those stick tricks. It's like the "Wrong Gig: video linked all-too-often with the guy who's...

Re: Crush drums

Absolutely correct. The impression that I got from the OP was that he liked Crush but needed a push, so all I was doing is pointing out that one of the companies is faceless and one of them is...

Here's the thing: If the C.O.O. is actively participating in the forums, it's not crazy to think that he will be helpful for the actual customers, too. Even if I NEVER need to contact them, knowing...

Haha, nope. Guitar Center... a lot of people hate them for whatever reason so I usually just say "drum shop". Rest assured that I speak very highly of your kits (especially the acrylics) to...

Re: Anyone ever compete in the GC drum off?

As someone who works at the GC, I can tell you that showmanship is the big one, but you have to be able to a hold a groove as well. You can supplement less-than-godly chops with a few stick flips and...
