Re: Tuning in a dead room.

Haha! I have not forgotten the power!! How could I lol? But I even question their ability to overcome in this room!

I suppose I can only hope that if and when I run into a situation like this...

Tuning in a dead room.

Hello all! It's been a while since I've posted, but I ran into an interesting situation recently and I am looking forward to hearing your feed back. Here's the situation: a few weeks back I played a...

Re: Tommy Igoe snare tuning!

Sounds to me like a tight bottom head, medium-low to medium top. And definitely some muffling of the top head. My guess is that the batter side is a pre-muffled head, though he does have some tape...

Re: Tuning trubbs with my 26" kick drum - Help!!

Hi Joe! I've been playing a 28x16 inch kick for about 4 years now. The pedal feel of larger kicks is much different than that of a smaller, so my guess is that you might not be used to that rebound?...

C and C Drums Company Changes?

Hello all! I have been loving the look and sound of C and C custom drums for a few years now, and when I do purchase a new kit, I intend to purchase a set from them. However, I checked their website...

Re: Riding the Snare

I looked at a few videos of Tommy Lee playing kickstart my heart, and he seems to flam on two and four. The drummer for the black keys seems to be playing about halfway between center and the rim...

Riding the Snare

I've been trying to play what I call snare rides. What I mean is where I'm playing 8ths as unaccented notes with my right hand, and two and four accented with my left. Like the verse groove on Motley...

Re: Sound engineers creating kick tone.

Sorry Flicky I forgot to respond to your post. Whoops! Thanks for that information!

I haven't heard them play live yet (our gigs usually fall on the same night), and our bands have met each other...

Re: Fall back heroes.

I feel you on the jamming. Do you still leave some places open to inspiration, or do you stay pretty consistent? It depends who I'm playing with, but I read a Neil Peart interview (around Snakes and...

Re: Drum tuning

I would suggest a couple of different things then.

1. As Wsabol suggested, try Remo Coated Emperors over clear/coated Ambassadors.

2. Understand that the way your drums sound to you behind the...

Re: Fall back heroes.

I wholeheartedly agree with you, Larry. The Ringo fills come out of me not as a choice, but as a natural reflex.

Re: Drum tuning

What don't you like about your current tom sound Fuzz? Also I'm assuming you have pinstripe batters and ambassador reso, right?

Fall back heroes.

We've had a ton of "who's your favorite drummer" or "who's your biggest influence" threads, and I like to think of this as an extension or addendum to those threads.

When you're in a clutch. When...

Re: tom growling

Have you checked your heads for wrinkles? This usually happens when a one or more lugs is more loose than the others. You can usually see them, but you can also feel them/hear them when you run your...

Re: Your drumming "thing"?

I do this too quite a bit. I have a lot of little quirks (some I picked up, the others came from cool accidents.) I sometimes like to signal a new section by crashing on 2 instead of 1. That was...

Very well worded and super PC, Henri:) But I must regretful reply that I am disinclined to acquiesce to your request.

Regretfully yours,

Re: Buying my first vintage kit.

Thanks for the confirmation guys. $3000 sure didn't sound right, but as I'm a newbie at this I just wanted to make sure.

I went back and checked out the kit some more, and the store is marketing...

Buying my first vintage kit.

Hello all. My local music store has for sale a 1965 Ludwig Champagne Sparkle drum kit. 12" rack tom, 14" floor tom, and a 20" kick drum. There's also a brass Pearl piccolo snare thrown in the mix but...

Re: Snappy comebacks and other barbs for drummers

You are correct on the similar "upbringing." My family and my close friends have always taken the piss out of each other, and we can all laugh and nobody gets their feelings hurt.

My favorite...
