The only one I've ever had break, was one I made from some ribbon...................looked great, but didn't work well

I've never had any snare cords or ribbons break that were designed for that...

I always "over-prepare", probably too much, but it has saved my ass in the past. Normally I bring the following:

Rug
Extra Snare
Extra pedal
Hi-Hat clutch
Extra heads - I place a spare head...
