Thanks all! The remo silenstrokes and zildjian L80s helped a lot. However, there is still some echo in the room, as there's not much on the walls. What would be the best way to deaden the sound?

yes deadening the sound. my biggest concern are the walls, as this is where other people would hear it. i sleep on the floor one level down and it is the ground floor.
