Re: New here!

Love the Pork Pie Kit! I bet is sounds sick!

My OCD is taking over though. That ride stand has a downward slope and I won't be able to sleep tonight thinking about it....:)

Re: Drumming dreams

Just the other night I had a dream that I was supposed to play drums in the orchastra band for a play. In the dream I don't remember ever playing the drums but I remember forgetting almost every...

Re: Outdoor Shows - Head and Humidity

I can't thank everyone enough for the responses. A person feels like they know what to do but you can always learn something.

I tell you what...a fan is the number one thing I am getting. I...

Thanks everyone!

All of the responses are exactly what I needed! I certainly believe I drank plenty of water but electorates in Gatorade or the like is a great thought. You wold think water is...

Outdoor Shows - Head and Humidity

Hi guys!

On Saturday night we played one of our favorite Venues. Its a dock bar right on the...

Re: Zero practice gig..............

I used to teach drums at a Rock Band Summer camp. One Friday we had a group of students from Berkley come in to perform a few cover songs demostrating listening to the other musicians and "jamming"...

Re: Two up - 13/10/16 config - Mounting issue

I have been tinkering the last few days. The problem with a double tom mount like shown above is that I cant get the 10 inch tom far enough towards the Center of the Kick drum where I want it. two...

Two up - 13/10/16 config - Mounting issue

Hi Guys!

Just curious if anyone has any ideas on mounting a rack toms. Maybe this is just a dream but I have a virgin kick, I don't want to incorporate a rack but I would like to mount two toms...

Re: Making $ playing drums

In the Washington DC area there are different tiers of payment to break into.

I have been in a cover band in this area for almost 10 years. The below is based on my experience. We are a 5 piece...

Re: Drum Shields??

I also want to note that a small venue does indeed require a drummer to play quietly unfortunately. You can't just slap up a shield and play however you want. Just another point towards the fact that...

Re: Drum Shields??

I don't believe shields are for cutting the stage volume (well in a way) nor are they to be used to simply quiet a drumset in smaller settings. They should only be used when the sound engineer does...

Re: The drummers who just go for it

Travis Barker doesn't know any rudiments? That's laughable. I can't be sure he can read music but I would bet that he can.

Meg White though is a true story. However, I think the question is more...

Re: Improper use of drum equipment

I have this exact item in my backyard. It's the first snare I ever had and my mom gave my wife and I an herb garden using it. It's all rusty now from being outdoors but I actually love it.

Re: Backstage at Dave Matthews Band in Arkansas!

This is awesome! My son's middle name is Carter simply because I started playing drums because of Beauford. God that had to be almost 20 years ago.

Re: Stage Etiquette

This is exactly how it should go. I actually hate it when a sound person says "OK play the whole kit". I understand it is needed at times but I still do a simple groove with linear fills simply so...

Re: Stage Etiquette

The Number 1 for me is stage noise. Set your equipment up, get tuned and then get off the stage until showtime or soundcheck (hanging on stage to warm up with no noise is acceptable). A guitar player...

Re: Mounting a Personal Mixer behind the Kit

OK, as promised here are a couple of pics. SPD-SX is on a stand and i used a small percussion tray to mount the mixer next to it. Not only does it work well but I think it looks pretty sweet!

Re: Playing w/ a Click Live... Concerns:

I love playing to a click in the studio but for live performances I only use one when a loop, sample or sequence is needed. Otherwise we tend to stay in time pretty well with each other.

It is...

Re: Anyone suggest good drum bags?

Another vote for Protection Racket from my end. Every time I get a new drum or piece of equipment I just go ahead and buy the matching P.R. case.

I will say that after years of lugging my kick...

Re: What is the best rack mixer to get to support my drum triggers?

I run a Roland SPD-SX with two external triggers directly into an RCF Livepad 6X mixer. Its a 6 channel mixer and has built in effects. I think I paid 125 bucks for it and I love it.

I basically...

Re: Monitoring an SPD-SX

My band actually went all out and got a wireless rig for us all to use. Unfortunately that got stolen a few years back. The plus side is I still have my custom ear buds. They are the sensaphonic 2max...

Re: Monitoring an SPD-SX

I use the SPD-SX with two BT-1's as well. Just like TonyW said, a direct box is a must. I keep the Master volume about 70% during sound check so I still have some wiggle room on the fly.

You...

Re: Mounting a Personal Mixer behind the Kit

I like that stand! Unfortunately it does seem like it would be too big for a 6 channel mixer. The thing is only 8inches wide so this one may be overkill.

However, it is highly possible I am being...

Mounting a Personal Mixer behind the Kit

Hi Guys!

I have looked high and low for a solution to this with no luck. Long story short I recently upgraded my Roland SPD-S to an SPD-SX with external pads etc. To incorporate click it is time...
