Re: "Play something." What do you play?

Depends who's asking, generally everyone just wants to hear a stupid fast fill. If an actual drummer asked...time to bust out polyrhythmic jazz grooves!

Re: THE AMBIDEXTROUS THREAD

That's a cool idea, I've tried jamming to a few songs left lead. More or so what I do now is just get the metronome going and just jam all left lead so I become more comfortable.

Ah I see, well...

Re: THE AMBIDEXTROUS THREAD

Ah that's cool! and I hear ya I think we're all weird haha once I got comfortable playing ambidextrously I started choosing left limbs over right. I switch up the dominance between my feet and hands...

Re: Annoyed and disappointed with myself

ohh I see, that makes sense to save time of course. How bad was it when you missed the crash? I've almost dropped sticks from missing, sometimes I scrape my knuckles against something as well. And...

Re: Drum Set Care and Humidifiers

Dang...I've been avoiding this. My drums (and guitars) have been in a dessert for years now, could there be any damage and is it reversible? Or do my massive amounts of sweat compensate for the...

Re: Drummers that can't tune drums.

Hah most drummers I know/see don't know how to tune their drums at all. It's always the over tightened snare that has insane overtones or its covered in duct tape. The toms are always de tuned or...

Re: Annoyed and disappointed with myself

Any reason you weren't playing on your own kit? And how does two floor toms make anything difficult? And I think I remember a post from you a while ago about not being loud enough, do you never get...

Re: should I jam with a big band???

Take the opportunity! You'll learn so much in these situations even if it doesn't work out in the end.
Playing in a concert jazz band (or whatever you want to call it) is pretty cool. I really doubt...

Re: THE AMBIDEXTROUS THREAD

Sweet, sounds pretty nice. I assume you break it up between your feet and your hands for a nice linear feel. Cool stuff!

Re: What's going on here...

Lol coming from the guy who said "base roll"

Ok no seriously, Coleman is pretty sick! I can't really see what he's doing with his right hand and I'm not that good at transcribing, but here ya go!...

Re: THE AMBIDEXTROUS THREAD

I see your point that left lead limits my composing, but that's NOT how it is for me. I may not be as comfortable or good when playing left lead, but both of those can change. Over time I will get...

Re: Travis Orbin "Project" EP

yeah...sounds like freaggin programmed guitars imo but the composition is always more important. Actually now that I'm listening to it again, that midi feel makes it sound like a soundtrack from a...

Re: THE AMBIDEXTROUS THREAD

Nice I started doing the same to get my left hand extra comfortable at doing things. And I agree that it just helps improve so much, wether you play a weird set up or not it just increasing your...

If no one knows by now I am a HUGE Orbinator fan. So when this dropped I had to listen, and of course his drumming is f*cking...

Re: THE AMBIDEXTROUS THREAD

OMG that's freaking hilarious XD and bad at the same time, how mad did they get? I know they frown upon bi sexuality and left hand dominance, that whole witch suspicion thing is just so dumb.

Re: A month and no drums

Ehh it's only been a month, which is a lot but if you were practicing that much your chops won't dissipate from a only month of no drumming. Taking time off definitely brings up creativity as well....

Re: Open handed technique

Ok so if you can play Left OR Right I'D CONSIDER YOU AN AMBIDEXTROUS DRUMMER. Since we're beyond off topic and everyone blames me for it I'm starting a new thread because clearly this subject is fun...

THE AMBIDEXTROUS THREAD

OKAY.

It has it's own thread now, ambidextrous, open handed, cross dominant - anything that's not standard/traditional/normal playing - can be flooded and debated here.

I'll start off by saying...

Re: Open handed technique

Ok, let me explain this better. You're are cross dominant, which means you can do different things with different dominance. So you still have to have a dominance for drumming, it's either left,...

Re: Open handed technique

Inconsistency? I haven't changed or gone back on anything I said. Maybe because I have to reword the same thing ten times in a row it comes out inconsistent. Idk what to tell you about Greb, he's...
