Re: Gavin Harrison here!

Hi,

I'm beginning to work my way down the rabbit hole of recording drums, and as I'm learning I wanted to pick the brain of someone who has been able to produce great natural sounding drums...

Re: Gavin Harrison here!

Hi-

Have you had any experience with the ZIldjian K Custom Hybrid line of cymbals? I thought I had seen a Hybrid crash of some sort on a recent picture of your kit. What did you think of them?

Re: Gavin Harrison here!

Greetings-

I had a few questions regarding your cymbal selection, the answers to which I could not find elsewhere in your thread. The Zildjian Z3 series came out not too long ago in place of the...

Re: Exercises to improve solidity

Hi-

I had the same dilemma as you are facing a couple years ago. I played well, but just not as tight with the beat as I wanted. I wouldn't say you need strength-building exercises, but instead...

Re: Wrapping a lacquered drum kit

Thanks for the info, I was really scratching my head the first time I saw those rod heads. As long as they keep the heads in tune I could care less what they look like! As far as the actual series,...

Re: Wrapping a lacquered drum kit

I think I'm going to leave them as is. Not only does it save money, but I'd hate to inhibit the sound of the shells, they are quite thin maple. The only gripe I have with the kit are the lug tension...

Re: Wrapping a lacquered drum kit

Thanks for the advice, you all bring up very worthwhile points. I've given it some thought and it may be a slight over-obsession with aesthetics that drove me to consider re-wrapping the drums. I...

Re: Wrapping a lacquered drum kit

Thanks for all the replies, especially the links. Here's a pic from the seller. The kit looks great from the front, but the finish damage is located from the drummer's point of view. Caused by...

Wrapping a lacquered drum kit

Hi all, I had a question regarding wrapping a drum kit and was hoping I could get some direction and advice. I recently acquired a Sonor S-Class drum kit in a Dark Green lacquer finish. The shells...

Snare Recommendation

Hi all, I recently joined a rock/reggae style project and I'm looking for a snare with more "pop" but still with some body to it. Would you recommend a metal snare or a small maple? My local store...

Sonor S-Class Pro Drums

Hi all, I'm looking at acquiring a used Sonor S-Class Maple kit in Emerald Green. They aren't listed on Sonor's website, so I assume they're discontinued. I've read some reviews on S-Class drums that...

Greetings-

I have been a great admirer of your work in the past couple of years, I'm sure we can expect the same high quality work in the future. I'm not trying to sound like a gearhead, but I...

I can understand your...

Re: The must have Snare thread

I don't hear much discussion about the Yamaha 13x6.5 Musashi snare drum. I have had this snare for awhile and have found it to be a very versatile main snare, depending on how it's tuned.
