Re: Are your drums worth more than your motor vehicle?

Cars I own or cars I drive? I have a company car that I drive daily that easily beats what I've invested in drums. My little 2001 s10 pickup however, that's a close call.

Re: Sgt. Peppers at 50 Years

I was lucky enough to find a first printing of Sgt. Peppers at Goodwill one day along with a small collection of other 60's rock albums. Bought them all for a buck each. I put it on the player and...

Re: Ever felt guilty about getting paid for doing a gig?

I've been there before. It helps me to think of it this way. The owner is paying you for your time, not necessarily the quality of your performance. It took time out of your day to perform, so you...

Re: Question about soundproofing (+ mildly funny story)

Type "soundproofing" in the search bar. This subject has been covered extensively in numerous threads. There is a wealth of knowledge here that's already been recorded. That said, yes it is...

Re: Your top five southern rock groups ?

Good point. Course I've never viewed geography as a good indicator of musical taste/style. I've lived in rural Amish country most all my life yet I've become very found of Big Band and combo Jazz.

Re: Your top five southern rock groups ?

I'm kinda surprised the Doobie Brothers haven't made it to the list yet. Despite the lack of percussion their song "Black Water" continues to be one of my all time favorite songs.

1. Lynard...

Re: Old parts on a new drum

I "built" a snare a few years ago. (Had the shell custom made for me) I used all the lugs, throw off, and hoops from a beaten up Dynasonic I found in a practice room. The bottom hoop has those...

Re: How did you find Drummerworld?

I first found it in high school. Random internet searches for drum related items. I never joined, just enjoyed reading the articles. Then I forgot about it. Found it again just after going to...

Shagbark Hickory

Back in the middle of my family's woods there is a beautiful tall shagbark hickory tree. Kind of a unique species of tree. Anyways, I've thought off and on about what kind of drum could come out of...

Re: Coated ambassadors for reso side in jazz, really??

What heads do you have on the batter side?

Now, I don't know how you tune your drums but usually that's the issue. From previous posts you seem to really be into bop and small combo stuff. Here...

Re: Stupid stuff you did or tried to do.

Growing up on a farm I'm amazed my brother and I didn't kill ourselves. We used to climb up into the hay loft in the big barn. The loft was split into two sections, one on each side of the barn. ...

Re: Read All About It!!!

Yeah. I like to stay well informed on the current issues. I don't mind seeing most of it. It gets a little repetitive after after while but it's fun to see the humor in all of it.

Re: First song(s) you played

First song I really sat down to figure out on set was "Carry on my Wayward Son" by Kansas. Had a CD player sitting next to my kit and kept hitting the repeat button.
