Re: Chad vs Will

Me, too!

Sadly, I think many non-drummers probably will not know it was fake. A non-drummer I watched the vid with did not know it was fake. Even after saying so, I still needed to point out...

Re: Has anyone or famous drummers recorded with these crap drums?

That'll be one of the things. I'm thinking black oyster; something pretty retro.

I shall now not hijack the thread with unrelated pictures. Not.

Here they are when I brought them home after...

Re: Has anyone or famous drummers recorded with these crap drums?

Well, I can't speak for the OP's, but in my case, I'm basing rarity (with some levity) on the idea that, despite the quantities shipped, they were so poorly made (and obviously poorly considered),...

Re: Has anyone or famous drummers recorded with these crap drums?

Hi huangmi

I can kind of relate to what you are going through and probably made similar posts as yours, hoping against hope. I have an old 1970's set of MIJ drums (my first real kit). They do not...

Re: slow music down tool

I use Transcribe! as well. Great for working out guitar solos with lots of options and is designed for the purpose. I've used Reaper to slow down songs, any DAW will give you some basic speed and...

Re: (possible) technical drum riser question

How about filling the cavities with styrofoam? One sheet cut in blocks to fit should eliminate the air space, and thus, the resonance. ...?

Re: Basic drum maintenance?

I think over years, the shell vibrations will cause things to loosen. When going over the lug screws on older sets, some screws are snug, some turn a few times to snug. Could have been that way...

Re: Basic drum maintenance?

I've purchased a couple used kits lately. I check every screw and nut, clean and lube every moving part, lube the tension rods and wax the rims. Clean the shells and all the chrome. Hardware gets...

Re: How to get 70's funk drum sound?

On toms I used to slightly detune 2 lugs side by side.

Re: Dry hands

Just an update... I have more or less resolved this problem by switching from Vic Firth 7A's to Regal Tip 5A's. The 5A's are fatter, which helps in itself, but the finish on the Regal Tips must be...

Re: Tune Bot / Idrum Tech lawsuit?

Don't know about lawsuits, but the tune-bot is awesome. I'd rather not buy some device I don't want to get all these "App for that"s. A simple cell phone is all I will own, tyvm.

Anyway, got...

Re: The Drum Solo

Have not gigged, yet since switching back to drums. At practice, though, when the lead breaks turn into 5 minute guitar masturbation sessions, the drum fills get more energetic and closer together. ...

Re: Dry hands

Been trying different moisturizers (this really is a problem!), but they have not been very successful. Hmmm... should maybe have kept that expensive stuff I gave Mom for xmas,,,

[Edit] I will...

Keep like a pie tin down there to catch it? Very helpful of you to suggest, I will give it a try.

Dry hands

Ok, so winter is here in my area and am experiencing dry hands and throwing sticks from time to time. I spend time out doors, and my hand skin is really dry, and I am not getting enough (any) hand...

Re: Why do we assume that handmade is better?

It's a good question. I guess you hit the nail with the idea of the romantic notion. I think robotic assembly would churn out far more consistant results. That said, robots are only as good as...

Re: Any good Christmas goodies?

No specific drum goodies for me, but the shopping list is growing in my mind. The family units are widely dispersed, and Xmas is a series of gift opening events. Everyone has a standing...

Re: am i the only one who doesn't like pearl?

I have a '84 MX kit, and I'm really digging it. The tom mounting can be tricky to get right, but that only happens once, then the memory locks take over.

Re: what to accent in a song

A little of both for me. Covers, of course, there is already a prescription, but there is digression if I'm feeling that way and it's going to fit. ...Or at least I think it's going to fit.

With...

Re: I can only play original music?

I feel like covers are 'learning at the feet of the masters'. (Depending on what covers and by whom, I suppose!) They are ideas and examples, and even a measure of my playing.

If you are having...

Re: How often do you break/drop your sticks?

I don't normally drop sticks, although snow clearing in my region began this past week. My hands are all stiff and dry, and sticks are flying everywhere! I have practice tonight; better warn the...

Re: A question for drum room builders....

Not sure which reply you are referring to, but the channel was $3.69 per 12 foot strip. They go horizontally and are spaced about a foot apart. Sonopan was about $20 for a 4 x 8 foot x 3/4" sheet. ...

Re: A question for drum room builders....

True enough, I was thinking of completely isolating the drum room. I'm in Nova Scotia, and the one thing our basements mostly have in common is they extend above ground and have windows. The...
