Re: Yamaha Drums

Anyone feel like talking me out of buying a matte black Stage Custom (sizes 12, 14, 16, 18, and 22 [x2])?

This would require selling off a bunch of vintage ('85 era) Tama Superstar toms I've...

Re: Critters living in your drums?

That rules! I can't believe the spider has stuck around with all that commotion haha.

I don't recall ever having critters living in my drums, but I once rehearsed for a couple months in a vile...

Re: What Else Do You Play?

I also play guitar.

Even though I've played guitar WAY longer, I consider myself a drummer first. It just comes more naturally to me.

Re: What brand of kit do you play?

Still playing the same Tama Rockstar DX that I started on 16 years ago, but I recently started acquiring the pieces to build a badass beast of a kit. Got some vintage 14" and 15" Tama Superstar toms,...

Re: What drums heads should I buy?

Yep.

Plus I think they'll sound better for the styles you're playing.

Re: Warning: Drum Center of Portsmouth

Yeah, that's the other thing about DCP....fastest shipping I've EVER experienced in my 12+ years using eBay. More than once I've bought something and received it the next day. That's crazy (and so,...

Re: Warning: Drum Center of Portsmouth

I've bought several items from them (both through eBay and directly in the store) and have NEVER had an issue. In fact, I think the place kinda rules. They're #1 on my go-to list when it comes time...

Re: What's your musical situation?

I play in 2 metal bands, plus I'm the drummer for a metal studio project with some other folks from the scene.

Of the 2 bands I'm in, I play guitar in one, drums in the other...and both share all...

Re: Help us chose a Mapex MyDentity Kit. Let's have some fun.

Hmm...all things considered, that's still not bad.

Re: Help us chose a Mapex MyDentity Kit. Let's have some fun.

Yes, they have crazy colors to choose from, but what could possibly be so bad about having some options available on a decent, affordable kit for once and not being stuck with the same old same old?...

Re: Drum shoes

For years I had shoes that I only wore for drumming (wrestling shoes mostly, then some skater-ish Pumas).

I've long since moved on from that though...I just wear whatever sneakers I currently own...

Re: Help us chose a Mapex MyDentity Kit. Let's have some fun.

I just ran this set up in birch through their online kit builder:

(2) 22x20 kicks
10, 12, 13 toms
16, 18 floor toms

MSRP came out to $2700. I wonder what the actual price would be?

Re: Help us chose a Mapex MyDentity Kit. Let's have some fun.

I absolutely love that there's a company doing this, I'm just wondering where the Mydentity line falls (Meridian level, perhaps?). If I were to choose these, I'd probably go with the brushed grey...

Awesome to hear, thanks for the reply (and the kit looks great)!!

Yeah, if I go with the Rock Tour, I already planned on opting out on the snare. I have a sweet Gretsch Hammered Brass snare that I...

Re: Spaun Drums?

I'm on Spaun's site right now. Never in my life have I foamed at the mouth over SO many kits/finishes. There's at least 10 on there that I'd punch a nun to get.

The Inferno kits... *drool*

Re: Best purchases you've made for drums.

- 22" Paiste Dimensions Powerbell Ride. Most amazing ride I've ever played. I wouldn't record an album without it.

- Even though I finally just ordered their replacements, I gotta say my Axis...
