Re: string or straps for snare wires?

I prefer nylon straps. My experience with strings is they tend to work themselves loose.

Re: Is the snare tuned too high?

Second this. Even if i wear ear plugs with no music i still can't hear the snare buzz. I really don't pay any attention to it anymore. You get used to the buzz after a while. lol

Re: Anyone ever have this happen to them? Hope not.

I noticed that to. But after playing the video back i also noticed we never see the back of the bass drum just the front. I really don't know if the pedal was attached or not.

Was it staged?...

Re: Anyone ever have this happen to them? Hope not.

That guy needs to grow up.

I'm fine with someone not liking my playing. Hell i can even take a band member saying so. But when someone starts thowing my kit/cymbals around in a 5yr old bitch fit...

Re: New kit - do you remember your first time?

A Pearl Forum 5 piece was my first kit. I remember being so proud of that kit. I didn't know how to tune them or how to play them, but they were the best sounding drums i'd ever heard. haha!! I had a...

Re: It's Official...

It just doesn't sound like R&R to me or what i would say defines R&R. I'm glad the guy has had a successful career. Beleive me, i wish no artist any bad luck. But again, what he sings just doesn't...

Re: It's Official...

Re: It's Official...

Re: MY KIT (Discussion/Advice Please)

You can get one in brass. They also come in bronze, stainless steel, steel, and aluminum sizes 14x5 and 14x6.5. I've personally never played one but i've also heard good things of them.

One thing...

Re: MY KIT (Discussion/Advice Please)

Ludwig Black Magic is basically a poor mans version of the Black Beauty. It's a great brass snare for the price and is very simular in sound.

Pork Pie also makes the Big Black Bob. It's a chrome...

Re: 16" tom - legs or no legs??

Re: What do you think makes a kit look cluttered?

For me, it's seeing these drummers with this monstrosity of a drum setup and half the kit never gets a stick layed into it. Song after song they will play the same drums and never any of the 7 other...

Re: How many kits is too many.

I've never been one to have to have different kits. I've been using the same kit now for about seven yrs. It's always been snares that have dug into my pocketbook. At one point i believe i had 9 or...

Re: Pearl Export vs Pearl Forum

IMO...neither. You already have 400 to spend right? Save up another 2 or 3 hundred to put with that 400 you already have and get yourself a much better used kit. I'm not trying to be an a$$ or...

Re: Just got a new Black Beauty.

Thanks so much for all the responses guys! I appreciate it very much!!

PFOG- Your absolutely correct that DC Hoops will dry the drum to an extent. They do well on some snares..others not so much....
