Re: Trick VMT Pub Kick

Admittedly not high quality sound on the video but at first I got up to see who was at the door.

Re: Why the same songs, when so many to choose from?

And Ricky Nye is a double threat. Mostly known for Boogie Woogie (and other styles) Piano, also quite handy on the drums. Not to mention his days on keyboards with the Raisins.

Re: Why the same songs, when so many to choose from?

Make money? Playing music? I've heard about that. You are a professional, and a wealth of knowledge BTW. I have learned much from reading your posts. I have only had periods of time where my attempts...

Re: Why the same songs, when so many to choose from?

I've never been a big fan of Juke Box style cover bands, although I can appreciate the good ones for a while. It's just the propensity, of late, for hitting everything note for note and tone for tone...

Re: Jazz Drummer v Metal Drummer

Re: Keeping Things Light

Bear in mind that I am not at the point of playing out yet. More at the point of "What do you do with all of this stuff when you have to move it? Are you all crazy?"

I've only seen rugs that are...

Re: Keeping Things Light

drumdevil9 That is impressive. Where did you get that nice lightweight foldable rug?

Anybody have experience with using Gibraltars Stealth Rack. I'm thinking that this would be nice for my virgin...

Re: time signature/click track/recording problem!!!

Try using a click that sounds more distinctively different from your drums. Like a wood block or clave sound. Something hopefully different but not too bloody annoying.

Re: How to shake that tambourine!

Are you playing to a score and there is a conductor or music director that will fire you if you do not follow every note exactly?

OMG! When did Rock become this nitpicky OCD fest?

The Allman...

Re: Do you keep your cardboard boxes?

Yes, and not just for drums. And the packing peanuts, air pillows, etc. It's ridiculous. Just got a new (to me) kit and I have nowhere to set it up. A bunch of it is getting cut up and going into the...

Re: Solo gigs

The other night I was seeing a friends band in a kind of entertainment district in a local walkable neighborhood. There was a youth busking with some kind of electro software on his phone run through...

Re: 70 's Ludwig Supraphonic 14x5

...and they still sound great with pitted chrome.

The chrome just didn't get along well with the Ludalloy (aluminum.)

Re: Theory: Nobody wants anything new

But I'd rather listen to music that I think that I will like. Which is a pretty damn eclectic bunch of stuff.

I'm 60 now and started playing music on my own volition when I was 12. I have always...

Re: Theory: Nobody wants anything new

No hate. I appreciate the talent and musicianship, it just doesn't speak to me. Zappa, Rush ( and I am half-Canadian,) Dire Straits, and the list goes on.

There is so much music out there that is...

Re: What is the boogaloo beat?

Latin Boogaloo will pretty much always be based on tumbao and be played on Latin percussion instruments. Sometimes a kit drummer. It is swung in a different way but wont forget clave.
