Re: Mixing Brands Drums/Cymbals/Hardware

I guess for me, it really doesn't matter much as long as I have quality gear, especially the cymbals. I've always had matching cymbals, (Zild. A, and now Saludas) but would be open to mix and match...

Re: drummers singing?

It can be hard to do, you have to know both parts well to do them simultaneously. It helps if you sing on songs that are easy for you to drum too! since I do have to listen for pitch singing...

Re: drummers singing?

I used to sing much more than I do now, but now I sing harmony on one song "Sara" by Fleetwood Mac. It just lacks something without it. I sing lead on "I Love Rock n Roll" Joan Jett and "Hotel...

Re: Non-gigging Bands?

I think just jamming and/or recording can be a fun adventure too. I used to also like to play the random gig of substituting for someone or just practice one time and play a show. It was like a...

Re: How did you get into your first band?

I guess I was 15 or 16 when I first got involved in a band that wasn't a school band. We played local gigs and a couple of times at the state capitol and for political events. This was all in OK. I...

Re: THE BIG KITS VS SMALL KITS DEBATE

Hi guys!
What a huge thread!
I don't guess it matters much to me what anyone plays as long as the drums sound good and the cymbals sound GREAT! Different strokes for diff. folks, huh?
Me...

Re: What song are you playing on drums?

hey,
I've been working on 50 Ways to Leave Your Lover. I'm doing it just for fun as I doubt our band will play it, but it is "classic rock"! I remember hearing that song when I was a kid thinking...

Re: Your first set?

Re: Again i need help with my snare!

If you like the way your snare is set up,I would try adjusting the tuning of the tom in question. My snare rings more in different rooms too, we played in a gym last week and it rang no matter what...

Re: First band audition - advice wanted!

I agree with vipercussionist, don't overplay and/or showoff. It's a turn off. Just go in and play with energy, set the groove and keep it locked in. Try varied dynamics too, show your sensitivity...

Re: What song are you playing on drums?

I've been working on "In a gadda da vida" for the band and the solo. We played it the 1st time out tonight and it went pretty well, but I'd like to have it better by our next gig in a couple of...

Re: Over Drumming

As far as the playing, noodling in between tunes, it's annoying. No one in our bands ever done it at a gig, but our guitarist does it constantly in rehearsals..I've told him I hate it and it's...

Re: Set up/Breakdown

It can get very old; however, I noticed through the years that other people complained more than I did. My dad used to say, "should have played the flute" and stuff lots. I was always eager to play...

Re: Over Drumming

To me overdrumming is drumming to "show off" what you can do at the expense of the rest of the band or the song played. You have to remember that just because you can play that complex beat, doesn't...

Re: Gloves? Yey or Ney?

I just thought I'd throw in my opinion. I have just started wearing gloves this last year. I've played for 25 years prior without. I never even considered it until after my illness and I noticed...

Re: The Change is Complete! new stuff

Thanks Gruntersdad! I like the Gretch's so far. Big and boomy sound. Perfect for our rock band. I ordered some mufflers for it (just the rings by Evans) which I think will help get that sound for...
