Guitarists - Marshall DSL40c

Hey guys, not a drum question but I didn't know any other places I could ask this, and I know there are a few guitarists on here.

Im looking to get either the Marshall DSL40c or the DSL 15c. I was...

Re: Need help in deciding on my first drumset

I speak from personal experience when I say that you should NOT get a beginner kit if you are serious about drums. You will eventually hate it and want to replace it soon after you buy it. Save up...

Re: Thinking about triggering my kick

I am going to go against what everyone else is saying and suggest you get a trigger. You are playing in a metal band after all.

Triggers aren't that much of a problem in terms of double triggering...

Re: I just can't do fast double bass :(?

cool dude - in the video, play at a comfortable speed, and then attempt to play above your comfortable speed. This way I can see what you might be doing wrong when attempting to play faster.

Re: Making very little progress..

Don't worry dude. If you practise often enough, you can accomplish anything. Just put in a few more practise sessions per week and you will see long term imrovement.

Re: I just can't do fast double bass :(?

You should also get some books that focus on double bass. Or find a teacher

Re: I just can't do fast double bass :(?

Hey dude, I think you mean 16th notes at 140 BPM (4 hits per beat). 32nd notes at 140 BPM is equivalent to 16th notes at 280 BPM, which is more than impressive.

To me, it seems like you need to...

Re: Thoughts on YouTube Covers?

I like drum videos where you can see the player from multiple angles. If it's a video where multiple foot pedals are being used, I like to see what is going on down there.

On the contrary to what...

Re: Parents won't let me buy a drum set

You need to prove it to them that you are passionate about drumming. Keep tapping infront of them for another 3 months (maybe more) and they may start to see that you are serious about it.

Re: Problem with Gretsch Renown

Man, I would be disappointed with that. I once had an 18x22 wrapped bass drum and it was not like that.

Re: Help, Looking for a death metal complete kit for about 2000$ (maybe Tama silverstar)

In all seriousness - get a Mapex Saturn. There are a few of them on Ebay right now that come with 3 racks, 2 floor toms. They're all between $1000 and $2000 US dollars.

My suggestion would be to...

Re: What size is your main snare? Why?

My main snare is a 14" Mapex Sledgehammer. I like 14s the most because they are the most versatile. You can get a big fat sound or a short articulate sound.

Re: Snare Hum, not buzz

I once had this problem - it was caused by the wires being unevenly tensioned. I had to take them off then put them back on again properly to fix it.

Re: Learning Double Bass

By learning double bass, your 4-way independence and balance behind the kit will improve dramatically.

You need to start off slow (as with most things) and with a metronome. Try and get a solid...

Re: How to bring energy into your playing?

Simply adding in a few accents can help, and make sure you keep the temp driving. Make sure you are not playing at just one dynamic level. Also try relaxing yourself. I find that when I perform I get...

Re: Are you a Groove Player or a Technical Player?

I have always been more of a technical player...always trying to get everything perfect. I focused so much on tightness in my playing that I never learnt to groove.

Kinda sucks actually.

Re: Why Would You Want to Feel Low end on Your Butt?

Ive seen something like that advertised for an electronic kit. Their purpose is to emulate the feel of a 'real' kit and the shake you feel with the bass drum.
