Re: As if THAT ever happens...

You're in Colorado? Well if that happened it definitely was NOT at the Toad Tavern in Littleton.

Re: Sonor S Class Maple - need help

That's a screaming deal.
The hardware just seems needlessly complicated (over-engineered is the term you'll hear) and not quite as solid as what you'd find on a StarClassic, etc.
I'd...

Re: How many drum kits have you owned?

Past:
Some red sparkle 5 piece kit ( maybe a Pearl Export?) My first set of drums.
13 piece Tama ImperialStar
5 piece Tama SuperStar (80's birch ones)
6 piece Pearl Masters
9 piece Pearl Exports...

Re: The ubiquity of smaller kits

My main kit is a Taye StudioMaple 5 piece (22, 10,12,16, 14 inch snare). It's enough work hauling that all over the country. But I am thinking about trying to get the 6,8,10,12 set of concert toms, a...

Re: Sonor S Class Maple - need help

According to the Sonor Museum site the S Class Maples have a Chinese maple shell. It is technically an intermediate kit, but an intermediate Sonor kit is still pretty damn nice.
I bought a...

Re: Tom Sizes

My sizes are 10, 12, and 16, but if I were to only go with a 1 up and 1 down set up I don't think I would go from 10 to 16. It wouldn't be the end of the world if you did, but I would think a 12, 13,...

Re: Mind bender - 80's Superstar or 90's Masters??

I'd go with the SuperStars if they are standard depth. That'll be a great sounding kit that you don't see every day. Plus, I just like the 80's Tama kits, lol.

Re: Long, Detailed in depth review of the Taye GoKit

Nice review on the GoKit. I've been playing my StudioMaples all over the country for the past year and a half, and was always curious about how the GoKit sounded. I only got to tap lightly on a GoKit...

Re: HELP: trying to find perfect kit

Wasn't punk pretty much about having beat up stuff...and then thrashing on it some more? I'd go with a used set of Tama SwingStars or Rock Stars for something like that. Maybe I'm missing...

Re: When disaster strikes: Your opinion

With the car I have now it would probably be my pets and guitars. If I had a van then I could save my drums too. I NEED A VAN! Lol

Re: Should I Do It?

I think he's asking whether he should use the E-kit or go through the hassle of getting his acoustic drums. I'd go with the E-kit in this situation.

Re: 80s and 90s drums (the Glam Rock ones)

I can't wait to get myself a huge drum set again. I won't gig it because they are a pain in the ass to move, but they are fun to jam on.

Re: Stock snares

The stock snare that came with my Taye Studio Maple kit is fantastic! I ordered my kit with a Taye 14x6 nickel over brass snare because I knew I liked that snare, but it also came with the stock 14x5...

Re: Drum fads: Past, present...and future?

@DrumEatDrum

Yes, I understand the parallels with how the grunge vs. Hair band genres played out over their life spans. You had the trendsetters followed by the copycats who continually...

Re: Drum fads: Past, present...and future?

Lol....what I said about Grunge wasn't meant to be a compliment. Sure, the drummers in the 80's bands weren't doing anything amazing, but they didn't have to. What I enjoyed from that period was the...

Re: Drum fads: Past, present...and future?

Grunge is nothing like 'hair metal' (or whatever you want to call it.)

Re: Let the manufacturer choose them?

Saluda will make whatever you want. How well they pull it off depends on how well you describe what you want, I guess. They will also take the cymbal back and re-work it if you're not happy with it....

Re: Rush Signed Memorabilia to be Auctioned on eBay for Charity as part of R40 Live Anniversary Tour

How big was that tree that they were able to make 250+ drums with it?

Also, it's kind of funny that Neil only uses that super special kit for the first set of the show. After the intermission...

Re: Band Pay Splits

We'll usually split the money in half....half goes to the band account and the other half gets split 4 ways between the members. This has worked well for us and kept plenty of band money in the...
