Re: Is Buddy Rich REALLY the greatest drummer of all time?

First, the idea that any of the greats mentioned couldn't do a specific thing in a different era or genre...

Re: Round vs. Saddle throne?

I don't get the value of locking the seat. I seem to take advantage of a little bit of rotation. I also use a round roc n soc spindle. Been using it for 3 years with no issues. I also had back...

Re: Sickest Blast Beat Video Ever!

"99% of people that hate on double kick, blasts, triggers are the ones who can't play the stuff at the extreme speeds anyways I personally find. "

I get the point you are making, but in general to...

Re: Guitar breaks my drum sticks!

I also would be worried about causing injury. In my opinion it is one of or a combination of both playing too hard or bad technique. Some of the advice about turning down, ambient mic, and in ears...

Re: Hand Problem/ Matched grip

I use a glove on my right hand for a really good grip because of arthritis in the thumb joint closest to the hand. Caused by too many back and foot massages for my wife! ;-)

Re: Sickest Blast Beat Video Ever!

I know I am old but I really just don't get the musical appeal to blast beats.

Re: Drum education technology demand survey

I suggest you move the pricing questions to then end. Hard to estimate cost until you see more of what you mean that is gathered answering the rest of the questions. Interesting idea for sure.

Re: Beginner - easy songs are freaking hard!

A few rules that all drummers should follow when learning new bits.

Start small like one pattern of the song
Play at the slowest tempo needed to play it right
slowly increase the tempo until it...

Re: Wow. Really?

Its been a long time but I recall an interview with Charlie and he pauses to give his left hand room on the snare. After learning that he did that back in the 70s I mimicked it for a while. For a...

Re: What's your latest purchase?

So these takes care of the need for phantom power which can be an issue with PA's that do not have phantom power that can be set per input? Cool! I did not know about these. Thanks for posting.

Re: Triggering a Bass Drum Instead of Mic'ing?

Re: What's your latest purchase?

This is rather mundane but I started buying used drum bags because I have a smaller vehicle and it requires a little tighter packing. So the bags can protect the drums. So far I bought a bag for the...

Re: The Drummer-Bassist Relation

Neil and Geddy. Just had to mention their names in a thread about drums and bass!

Also, here is a band I wonder if anyone else is a fan, with some great drum and bass songs.

Re: Here's an observation nobody here wants to hear ;)

I don't mind hearing it at all! I'd love to have the ability to buy more toys but I have too many other important things in live that require money. I guess I am practical to the point of considering...

Re: Faithful or Improv?

I try to play the drum parts as close to the original as possible, considering my limitations. One reason not mentioned yet is that the rest of my band get used to playing the song by listening to...

Re: What's your latest purchase?

I used a set of black chromes. They were fine. I have just switched to coated heads for a warmer sound.
