One thing that you can do is listen to recordings, play along and learn the parts.

Improvising with other musicians helps too.

I call this limb independence. I'm working on it also. Just start playing a rhythm slowly and practice every day. Eventually I learn it.

Don't get overwhelmed by all the rudiments. You don't have to learn them all right away. The first couple are handy - the single stroke roll and double stroke roll. Play along with your favorite...
